~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{ LET’S START TODAY’S NEWS WITH YET ANOTHER, ‘ XANIEL’S NOTE ‘, SHALL WE : This only goes to those who are still asleep or are pretending to be asleep ! HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE BEFORE YOU STUPID SHEEPLE SLAVES IN THE U.S. FINALLY REALIZE THAT OUR GOVERNMENT HAS TAKEN OVER EVERYTHING AND YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT ???
Now understand before I rant on further, that I would like to see peaceful action, ( I am fully aware that this may not be possible because of all that is unfolding before us. None the less, I would like very much to see this handled peacefully and unlike that of The Powers That Were ), more like what I’m seeing with the Occupy movement. ‘ Determined, yet peaceful ! ‘
However, I’m not seeing enough people waking up and understanding what has happened to them or they are keeping their heads in the sand in the hopes that things will fix themselves, much less doing anything to help this more than obvious downturn in the American way of life !!
STOP WAITING FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO FIX THINGS FOR YOU ! Everything that is happening evolves you too ( whether you like it or not. )
All of this started long, long ago, but let’s just start where it got it’s unnoticed ‘ Nazi beginning ‘. And that would be ‘ 9-11 !! ‘
AS MUCH AS THE POWERS THAT WERE WOULD LIKE YOU TO BELIEVE, 9-11 WAS NOT CARRIED OUT BY THE ISLAMIC EXTREMIST ,( aka Bin Laden and gang ), IT WAS IN FACT, CARRIED OUT BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT( U. S. )/MILITARY/C.I.A. and THE ISRAELI MOSSAD and then blame on the Islamic People to rally the U.S. against a common enemy in order to take our freedoms unopposed and gain overall control. We have the traitor Bush and friends to thank for that ! Al-qaeda, which translates to ‘ the toilet. ( Come on….does that sound like a real terrorist name? I guess it does if you choose to believe the crap our Government feeds us ! ), is really ran by the C.I.A. and Mossad agencies. Bin Laden himself, worked for the C.I.A. up to the time of the 9-11 murders and died of medical problems shortly after. ( despite what that traitor Obama and his administration told us about their killing of him recently! ) ‘
But not to worry, the traitors in our Government do not run out of ‘ bad guys ‘ that easy. And with special thanks to those ‘ Israeli Zionist BUGS in Israel’s Government who have brain washed their own people as badly as the U.S. has brain washed ours ‘, ( Zionist is another word for Nazism and apparently there are a lot of these Nazis in the world today, many Christians are also apart of them ), directing their puppet Government minions in the U.S. to fight Israel’s enemies.
We illegally, with the full help of the other criminals of NATO, destroyed Libya, working on Syria while we push and kill our allies in Pakistan in order to justify war there. Meanwhile all along and with poking and prodding from those in the virus Zionist Government of Israel, try to spin as much B.S. and propaganda to justify an attack on Iran !
Does anyone else besides me notice how Israel’s neighbors seem to be falling like dominoes. One uprising and/or war after another. Do you really think that that is happening by chance? Or are you smart enough to see that this is an agenda by those who would dare fancy themselves our masters, obviously thinking we are to stupid to realize what is truly going on !
How long before the Arab Nations realize that they will all have set aside their grievances with each other and unite as one to push Israel back by force to the 1967 lines or rid the middle East of Israel all together and give back that land to the rightful owners of Palestine? Then and only then, will there be true peace there!
Meanwhile, Right before our very eye’s, our once great nation and her people fall because of the traitors in our government system that refuse to represent us as they took an oath to do.
Are our asleep citizens going to wake up in time to help the rest of us make a difference ? Or will they wait until it’s to late and realize that our few numbers could not fix the problem for them or without them?
So allow me, if it will help at all, to send out the call.
” WAKE UP !! Wake up and help us to save our country and from there, THE WORLD. Don’t wait in the hope that someone else will do it for you. You are involved whether you what to be or not ! Time to stand with the rest of us and make a difference ! AND DO IT BEFORE IT’S TO LATE.”~~ Xaniel777
Thousands protest Russia’s alleged election fraud
Thousands protest Russia's alleged election fraud
Tens of thousands of Russians have rallied on a Moscow street to protest alleged fraud in the December 4 parliamentary election won by the ruling party of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Organisers say more than 100,000 people joined the rally on Sakharov Avenue in below-freezing temperatures Saturday, exceeding the size of a similar protest earlier this month. Russian police estimated the turnout at about 28 000 people.
Many protesters wore white ribbons and held white balloons – symbols of a new movement of liberals, nationalists and other groups calling for free elections in Russia and an end to Putin’s 12 years in power.
Former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev also urged Putin to heed the demands of protesters and quit politics. In a Saturday interview with Moscow’s Echo radio, Mr. Gorbachev said Putin’s three terms in power were enough.
The activists say Putin’s United Russia party won a narrow majority in this month’s parliamentary elections illegally, through vote fraud. They want to throw out the results and hold a new vote. They also say measures are needed to prevent more fraud in Russia’s presidential election in March, when Mr. Putin hopes to return to the post he held from 2000 to 2008.
Several opposition figures addressed the protest rally, including popular blogger Alexei Navalny.
He urged demonstrators to continue to lobby for change in the Kremlin.
“I’m happy that we not only made our demands, but we are able to demand further on. And we will insist on it, and we will make them give back what is rightfully ours.”
Ahead of Saturday’s rally, a human rights panel that advises the Kremlin sided with protesters and said the December 4 elections were so tainted by fraud that they should be re-run.
The group also called for the resignation of Russia’s election commission chief.
The Moscow demonstrations and smaller anti-Putin rallies in other cities are the largest show of discontent in Russia since the 1990s. Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has responded by promising reforms to allow more competition in elections beyond 2012. He is stepping down in March to make way for Putin’s candidacy.
Putin has accused the United States of fomenting the anti-government demonstrations. He has derided the protesters, saying their white ribbons resemble condoms. Some participants in Saturday’s rally in Moscow mocked the prime minister by holding portraits of him with a condom wrapped around his head and waving condoms blown up like balloons.
Ron Paul wins despite mainstream smear
Herman Cain got secret service protection. Michele Bachmann has a big, fancy bus. Congressman Ron Paul isn’t like other Republicans, however. At least not like those who have chased the GOP’s bid for the 2012 election.
The road to the White House is a bumpy one but Rep. Ron Paul is okay with that. So are his supporters in Iowa, apparently, who have come to appreciate the could-be-president’s lack of fleer while dismissing the mainstream media’s smear campaign against the congressman.
To many, it isn’t the way the establishment — now terrified of Paul’s surge in the polls — portrays the candidate. It’s the way the congressman has stuck to his gut during his decades in public office.
“He’s the only consistent conservative out there,” J.C. Weiand, a law student who attended a Paul rally in Fort Madison, Iowa, tells the Associated Press. “For 30 years, he’s been preaching the same message. Now his time has finally come.”
Paul was pegged as a possibility for the Republican Party’s nomination since he launched his campaign, but only in recent weeks has his popularity finally propelled him to the top. While scandals cost Cain his campaign and Rick Perry’s poor public appearances have dragged him down in the polls after once being a frontrunner, Paul has only soared with support as of late.
The mainstream media has attempted to take down the libertarian-leaning Republican in recent days by unearthing antiquated messages penned under Paul’s name. The congressman has dismissed allegations that he was responsible for the questionable material, but that isn’t keeping the establishment from attacking him over it. Fed up with repeated questioning, Paul walked off the set of a CNN interview earlier this week. Even without the support of corporate news, however, Paul is still finding positive numbers thanks to his ability to approach topics from an angle that his party competition won’t dare dig into.
While other candidates have waged for increased military spending and weakening the Constitution to crush the civil liberties of Americans, Paul is trying to take the US out of foreign wars and reinstall freedom for every citizen. As America counties to be ripped by wars and the Pentagon is hemorrhaging money for the sake of executing civilians, Paul’s soft-spoken but solid ideas are finding an audience sick with the establishment.
To others, Paul is simply bridging a gap their neither the left nor right can cover on their own.
“I think the most important thing is the philosophy I’m talking about is the Constitution and freedom,” Paul said during a recent debate in Sioux City, Iowa, “and that brings people together. It brings independents into the fold and it brings Democrats over on some of these issues. So therefore I see this philosophy as being very electable because it’s an America philosophy.”
“Dr. Paul is surging in Iowa and New Hampshire because he is exactly what the voters have been looking for,” Paul spokesman Jesse Benton adds to ABC News. “He governs on principle. He is consistent and does not flip-flop. And he is the only candidate who will really cut the spending and balance the budget so we can get back on our feet and create jobs.”
“It’s not impossible, but 2012 could be the year that there will be just two parties.The Ron Paul Republican Party and the Democrats,” Ron Paul supporter Robert Timsah writes in the Examiner on Friday, “The Democrats would feature, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton. I call this the war party, and of course, Paul’s being the anti-war party.
If Timsah is right and it comes down to those two, Paul says he already knows the outcome there.
“The challenge isn’t all that great on how we’re going to beat Obama. I think he’s beating himself,” Paul said at the debate in Sioux City. “I think really the question is, what do we have to offer? And I have something different to offer. I emphasize civil liberties. I emphasize a pro-American foreign policy, which is a lot different than ‘Policemen of the World.’ I emphasize, you know, monetary policy and these things that the other candidates don’t talk about.”
Why Is the FDA Saying It’s OK to Eat Seafood 10,000 Times Over the Safe Limit for Dangerous Carcinogens?
From AlterNet
Ever since the largest offshore oil spill in history spewed into the Gulf of Mexico last year, independent public health experts have questioned the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s efforts to effectively protect Americans from consuming contaminated seafood.
Now a recent study by two of the most tenacious non-government scientists reveals that FDA Gulf seafood “safe levels” allowed 100 to 10,000 times more carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in seafood than what is safe. The overarching issue the report addresses is the failure of the FDA’s risk assessment to protect those most vulnerable to the effects of these chemicals, such as young children, pregnant women and high-consumption seafood eaters.
In an effort to pinpoint how the FDA decided to set its acceptable levels for PAH contaminants in Gulf seafood, researchers at the Natural Resources Defense Council, which performed the study — published in the leading peer-reviewed environmental health journal Environmental Health Perspectives — also scoured documents wrested from the FDA under the Freedom of Information Act.
These include internal emails and unreleased assessments that suggest the FDA not only downplayed the risk of contamination but also that the EPA, and even members of FDA staff, had proposed higher levels of contamination protection, which in the end were ignored.
In vehemently denying the NRDC study’s findings, the FDA argues that its chemical risk assessments are inherently biased “on the side of safety” and that setting higher protective health measures for PAHs in Gulf seafood would actually “do more harm than good.”
Robert Dickey, director of the FDA’s Gulf Coast Seafood Laboratory, who’s taken the lead for the agency in responding to the NRDC report, elaborated in an email to AlterNet, “Overly conservative estimates would lead you [to] remove a great deal of food from our refrigerators and pantries than is needed.”
In an interview with AlterNet, the study’s lead researcher, NRDC staff scientist Miriam Rotkin-Ellman, said that such a response from the FDA “begs the question of whether or not it was a political versus a scientific decision” because the agency “does not provide scientific evidence” for the claim that being more health protective somehow carries an increased risk of doing harm.
She added, “PAHs in food have been evaluated and standards set in the European Union without jeopardizing anyone’s nutrition.”
AlterNet confirmed that the FDA indeed has provided no scientific evidence to back up this claim in either its formal response to the NRDC report or in addressing AlterNet’s questions.
More broadly, the FDA declined to directly explain the email correspondence the study’s researchers obtained in the FOIA request. They reveal that the Environmental Protection Agency, and even members of the FDA’s own staff, questioned the FDA’s seafood safety risk assessment criteria for protecting the most vulnerable populations, particularly Gulf residents.
Other documents received via the FOIA request show that the FDA considered multiple other potential calculations and criteria where more health protective risk assessments were considered but never followed.
Asked if these documents, along with the NRDC study’s findings, belie the FDA’s chief claim that their risk assessments are biased “on the side of safety,” Dickey responded, “The seafood safety risk assessment was developed in extensive and open collaboration between FDA, EPA, CDC, NOAA, and public health experts and toxicologists from all five Gulf states impacted by the oil spill.”
He added, “During that process many factors and calculations were considered before the final version was agreed on by all participants.”
What Will 2012 Bring?
From Lew Rockwell.com
“Wake-Up Call” Trend: The Decline of America trend is nowhere near bottom, and the worse is yet to come.
One year later: “Worse” has happened, as the country piles up more and more debt, politicians are gridlocked, paralyzed in some perpetual political traffic jam of inaction.
“Crack-Up 2011” Trend: Teetering economies will collapse, currency wars will ensue, trade barriers will be erected, economic unions will splinter…
One year later: The Sovereign debt crisis threatens both the European Union and Euro, currency wars are underway and the US and China are trading trade barbs.
One year later: Thieves are stealing copper piping and cables, cooking oil and temple donation boxes; “Criminal recycling” is flourishing; in 2011 a record number of cyber crimes is reported to the FBI: more than 23,000 per month.”Crime Time” Trend: No job + no money + compounding debt = high stress, strained relations, short fuses. Hardship-driven crimes will be committed across the socioeconomic spectrum by legions of the on-the-edge desperate who will do whatever they must to keep a roof over their heads and put food on the table.
One year later: In the two-tier American justice system, the long arm of the law only reaches down to the low hanging fruit. Banks are slapped with slap on the wrist fines for billion dollar crimes, and like Jon Corzine, no crime time. But swift justice is readily dealt out for small time crimes. From closing down lemonade stands operating without a license to swat teams busting raw foods cooperatives, in America, Justice means “just us!””Screw the People” Trend: As times get even tougher and people get even poorer, the “authorities” will intensify their efforts to extract the funds needed to meet fiscal obligations.
“Students of the World Unite” Trend: “University degrees in hand yet out of work, in debt and with no prospects on the horizon, young adults and 20-somethings are mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it anymore.”
One year later: Occupy Wall Street is just one of the scores of worldwide student protest movements, some of which have proven powerful enough to bring down governments.
“Crackdown on Liberty” Trend: A national crusade to “Get Tough on Crime” will be waged against the citizenry. And just as in the “War on Terror,” where “suspected terrorists” are killed before proven guilty or jailed without trial, in the “War on Crime” everyone is a suspect until proven innocent.
“Journalism 2.0” Trend: With its unparalleled reach across borders and language barriers, “Journalism 2.0” has the potential to influence and educate citizens in a way that governments and corporate media moguls would never permit.One year later: TSA strip searches of little old ladies; Obama backs bill “authorizing indefinite military detention of U.S. citizens.”
“Cyberwars” Trend: The demonstrable effects of Cyberwar and its companion, Cybercrime, are already significant – and will come of age in 2011. Equally disruptive will be the harsh measures taken by global governments to control free access to the web, identify its users, and literally shut down computers that it considers a threat to national security.One year later: Aleksai Navalny, an imprisoned young Russian blogger/Twitterer with some 200,000 followers, is “credited with mobilizing a generation of young Russians through social media, a leap much like the one that spawned Occupy Wall Street and youth uprisings across Europe this year.”
One year later: Iran proudly displayed a sleek, white U.S. drone that was used for spying on Iranians; Iranians were able to capture what US military officials privately told Bloombergwas a Lockheed Martin RQ-170 by hacking into its security code; PayPal shuts off service to WikiLeaks.
Fanatic Rabbi Who Teaches “Goyim Slavery” Comes to US
Veterans Today
From Veterans Today
Israeli Rabbi who teaches that “the sole purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews” plans to tap support of Sephardic Jews in US
The Forward, Nathan Guttman
Shas Rising Rabbi Ovadia Yossef, right, wants to raise the profile of Sephardic Jews worldwide.
Washington — In its 30 years of existence, Shas has evolved from a marginal ethnic political group to Israel’s fourth largest party in the Knesset and is today the unchallenged kingmaker of Israeli politics.
Its leader, Rabbi Ovadia Yossef, as quoted in Israel’s Jerusalem Post, teaches:
The sole purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews, according to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the head of Shas’s Council of Torah Sages and a senior Sephardi adjudicator.
“Goyim were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Israel,” he said in his weekly Saturday night sermon on the laws regarding the actions non-Jews are permitted to perform on Shabbat.
Now, Shas — or in its full name, the Sephardic Torah Guardians Movement — is attempting to establish a beachhead among American Sephardic Jews and, it hopes, replicate its success in Israel. On December 4, the group launched its United States affiliate, American Friends of Shas, based in Brooklyn.
The new organization’s goals are still in flux and, while activists agree its main mission should be raising the profile of Shas in America, some are also calling for active fundraising to support the party’s operations in Israel.
Beyond these goals, the affiliate’s founders also hope to unite Sephardic American Jews under the leadership of Rabbi Ovadia Yossef, Shas’s founder and spiritual leader, who is revered as the most important rabbinic authority in the Sephardic world.
American Friends of Shas activists believe that such a consolidation of leadership could help elevate the standing of Orthodox Sephardic Jews, who often feel left out of the Ashkenazi-dominated American Jewish organizational world.
Jewish Supremacist – Rabbi David Algaze – “Jerusalem is Not a City of Three Religions”
“Associating with a very powerful leader and a very powerful organization can give us a sense of pride,” said Rabbi David Algaze, who chaired the founding meeting of American Friends of Shas.
Rabbi Algaze added that while he did not believe there is prejudice against Sephardic Jews in the U.S., there is a “subconscious bias” that has made members of the community almost entirely absent from the Jewish communal leadership.
Calls to join the new organization were posted in recent weeks on billboards in Orthodox neighborhoods in Brooklyn and New Jersey.
The official launch took place, as first reported by the Jewish Star, a Long Island-based newspaper, with Rabbi Ovadia Yossef’s personal aide, Zvi Hakak, greeting participants on behalf of the 91-year-old sage.
“The dream,” Hakak said in the meeting, “is to raise the image of Sephardic Jews.”
[Editors Note: Before the end of WWII, other Jewish Supremacists, the Irgun, were actually running coast to coast fundraising tours to fund their killing of British soldiers in Palestine.
The British Embassy complained bitterly at the time that while Tommies were dying to free Europe and save those left in the camps, that we allowed this terrorist organization to raise money here. But U. S. Politicians gave the poor Brits the bad news, “We are sorry, but as a political reality there is nothing we can do.”
Hear some Hebrew Klan gospel straight from the horses mouth, a horse with a suit…  Jim W. Dean]
                      YouTube – Veterans Today – – Rabbi Algaze
The group plans to incorporate as a tax-exempt charitable organization.
Shas Knessett Member – Nissam Zev
The driving force behind the initiative, Israeli Knesset member Nissim Zeev, was among the original founders of the Shas party in Israel.
“Our main goal was to have a channel in which Shas’s political views could be expressed in America,” Zeev told the Forward in a December 13 phone interview. “It is also very important for us to unite Sephardic communities in the U.S. around the party and around our rabbi, Ovadia Yossef.”
Shas started off in Israel as a social-issue party, focused on the needs of its key constituency — Sephardic Orthodox Israelis, many of whom were from the struggling classes in Israeli society.
Shas established its own government-funded school network, which gained marked popularity in poor Sephardic towns. This, in turn, increased the party’s popular support.
[Editors Note: So what these hustlers are going to do, of course, is launder tax deductible funding from here into the Israeli political process. Don’t hold your breath for a Justice Dept. investigation. They won’t do it. But we will at least get them on the record by officially asking them to…Jim W. Dean]
The party initially held centrist views on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and supported the Oslo Accords. But Shas has since moved to the right. As a member of the ruling government coalition led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party, the party has opposed any freeze in Israeli settlement activity in the occupied West Bank.
“In Khazaria, sheep, honey, and Jews exist in large quantities.”
      (tenth   century).
Dr. Ashraf Ezzat reminds us that the highest profile ‘invented’ people in history are the jews. Perhaps the highest profile ‘invented’ event in history is the holocau$t. Without an understanding of unvarnished history, how can we understand the present?
Just in case we may see an end to the internet as we know it, there are some pdf copies of important books that need to be saved for posterity. Buy them if you can afford it because they will be found in few libraries. If so inclined download while you can. Countering the myth of the ‘chosen ones’ is a basic tool in the battle to save humanity from the Khazarian deception.
Shlomo Sand and Arthur Koestler, both ‘jews,’ present impressive historical documentation refuting the tales of the Old Testament and any blood link between whatever Hebrews may have existed thousands of years ago to those of Israel today. One criticism of Sand may be that he has not delved into the actual history of the ‘holocaust’ and perpetuates the zionist exaggerations as evidenced by his statement “Today the descendants of the Jews of “Yiddishland” live mainly in the United States and Israel. The remains of millions of others are buried beneath the slaughterhouses constructed by Hitler in the twentieth century.” {page 277} That said, his work remains a must read.
The Invention of the Jewish People by Shlomo Sand
The Thirteenth Tribe by Arthur Koestler
Excerpts from “The Invention of the Jewish People”
National mythology determined that the Jews—banished, deported or fugitive emigrants—were driven into a long and dolorous exile, causing them to wander over lands and seas to the far corners of the earth until the advent of Zionism prompted them to turn around and return en masse to their orphaned homeland. This homeland had never belonged to the Arab conquerors, hence the claim of the people without a land to the land without a people.
This national statement, which was simplified into a useful and popular slogan for the Zionist movement, was entirely the product of an imaginary history grown around the idea of the exile. Although most of the professional historians knew there had never been a forcible uprooting of the Jewish people, they permitted the Christian myth that had been taken up by Jewish tradition to be paraded freely in the public and educational venues of the national memory, making no attempt to rebut it. They even encouraged it indirectly, knowing that only this myth would provide moral legitimacy to the settlement of the “exiled nation” in a country inhabited by others.
History deals with books, not with things, a “patriotic” scholar might argue, having spent his or her entire life interpreting religious, governmental and ideological texts produced in the past by a paper-thin elite. This is true where the traditional study of the past is concerned. But the advent of anthropological history began, slowly but surely, to corrode the simplistic Zionist metahistories.
The construction of a new body of knowledge always bears a direct connection with the national ideology in which it operates. Historical insights that diverge from the narrative laid down at the inception of the nation can be accepted only when consternation about their implications is abated. This can happen when the current collective identity begins to be taken for granted and ceases to be something that anxiously and nostalgically clings to a mythical past, when identity becomes the basis for living and not its purpose—that is when historiographic change can take place. For now, it is difficult to predict whether the Israeli politics of identity will permit, in the early twenty-first century, the emergence of fresh paradigms for the investigation of the origins and history of Jewish faith communities.
 No Jew who lives today in a liberal Western democracy would tolerate the discrimination and exclusion experienced by the Palestino-Israelis, who live in a state that proclaims it is not theirs. But Zionist supporters among the Jews around the world, like most Israelis, are quite unconcerned, or do not wish to know, that the “Jewish state,” because of its undemocratic laws, could never have been part of the European Union or one of Americas fifty states. This flawed reality does not stop them from expressing solidarity with Israel, and even regarding it as their reserve home. Not that this solidarity impels them to abandon their national homelands and emigrate to Israel. And why should they, seeing that they are not subjected to daily discrimination and alienation of the kind that Palestino-Israelis experience daily in their native country?
To understand current Zionist politics, replace the word “aliyah” with “diaspora.” Today Israel’s strength no longer depends on demographic increase, but rather on retaining the loyalty of overseas Jewish organizations and communities. It would be a serious setback for Israel if all the pro-Zionist lobbies were to immigrate en masse to the Holy Land. It is much more useful for them to remain close to the centers of power and communications in the Western world—and indeed they prefer to remain in the rich, liberal, comfortable “diaspora.”
But if it is senseless to expect the Jewish Israelis to dismantle their own state, the least that can be demanded of them is to stop reserving it for themselves as a polity that segregates, excludes, and discriminates against a large number of its citizens, whom it views as undesirable aliens.
The Jewish supra-identity must be thoroughly transformed and must adapt to the lively cultural reality it dominates. It will have to undergo a process of Israelization, open to all citizens. It is too late to make Israel into a uniform, homogeneous nation-state. Therefore, in addition to an Israelization that welcomes the “other,” it must develop a policy of democratic multiculturalism—similar to that of the United Kingdom or the Netherlands—that grants the Palestino-Israelis not only complete equality but also a genuine and firm autonomy. Their culture and institutions must be preserved and nurtured at the same time as they are brought into the centers of power of the hegemonic Israeli culture. Palestino-Israeli children should have access, if they wish it, to the heart of Israeli social and productive centers. And Jewish-Israeli children must be made aware that they are living in a state in which there are many “others.”
 And now the last, perhaps the hardest, question of them all: To what extent is Jewish Israeli society willing to discard the deeply embedded image of the “chosen people,” and to cease isolating itself in the name of a fanciful history or dubious biology and excluding the “other” from its midst?
In the final account, if it was possible to have changed the historical imaginary so profoundly, why not put forth a similarly lavish effort of the imagination to create a different tomorrow? If the nation’s history was mainly a dream, why not begin to dream its future afresh, before it becomes a nightmare?
How Zionism infiltrated the US [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]
Veterans Today
From Veterans Today
Interview with Scholar and Journalist, Mark Bruzonsky
Mark Bruzonsky, a Jewish-American Scholar and Journalist, has been a key member behind the scenes of the Israeli Palestinian peace initiative in the 1980s, meeting with Former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and with Palestinian officials.
In this exclusive interview with Press TV’s Autograph, Mr. Bruzonsky talks about the challenges and missed opportunities he witnessed first-hand, and how Zionist groups infiltrated American politics, US institutions and organizations.
He goes further to explain the specific time and day Obama sold out to the AIPAC (American- Israeli Public Affairs Committee) lobby, and how President Obama would never dare oppose the stronghold of the Zionist, Israeli Lobby in the US.
Press TV: In 1982, Mr. Bruzonsky, you authored the Paris Declaration – a breakthrough event that greatly contributed to political developments of the time. Please tell us about that.
Bruzonsky: In the 1980s, in a sense, a lot of us knew there was this political cancer; it was very bad, it was eating up the patient and needed to be dealt with and cured. I was in Paris sitting in a hotel room, a big event in my life, with four very important people – I was there to do the work and write the document.
These people were the former president of France – Pierre Mendis France; the founder of the World Zionist Organization and the World Jewish Congress – Nahum Goldman; his successor, who was the only Jewish leader in America who had ever been president of B’nai Brith and World Jewish Congress and Secretary of Commerce.
The man who inspired it was the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Isam Sartawi, the head of the PLO in Europe.
They signed this document called the Paris Declaration, I wrote it and it was on the entire front page of Le Monde newspaper; Arafat responded and that was on the front page also.
But then we ran out of steam. The organizations that had founded were not willing to even entertain a discussion on what they had signed; they disassociated themselves from the people who founded their own organizations.
So then the Donahue show asked me to be on their show. The Donahue TV show was the only talk show in America at that time, there was no other competition and I went on it after no other Jewish leaders would accept to go on the program.
The timing of the show was pre-intifada, pre-apartheid and there were very few Israeli settlements on Palestine occupied land at the time and the discussion was all about how to bring peace to the region.
The two-state solution (with ‘Solution’ emphasized) was in fact a possible solution – it wasn’t going to be totally fair, the Palestinians were going to get a small piece of territory compared to their homeland, but at least there was a lot of support from political people to make it happen.
That world is gone. The two-state solution is now dead with the possible exception that you would have to roll back a tremendous number of things that have happened; that’s not going to happen.
The reason that is not going to happen is not because President Obama is not a smart man, not because he doesn’t know that cancer has gotten a lot worse; he knows all that.
He also knows that politically he is totally blocked. There is no way in the world he can come up against the Israeli Jewish lobby and their great group of institutions, personalities and foundations – no way.
He knows it.
So he continues to talk the language of two-state solution, but that’s largely to keep Abbas and the Palestinian Authority (PA) from being totally discredited.
Press TV: During his inaugural as US president reports were circulating that his administration was going to move away from the Bush doctrine of rejecting Hamas into talks. Where does Hamas stand in the equation? Can there even be talks with the Palestinians when Hamas is sidelined?
Bruzonsky: In my cable TV program that I ended in 2003 I interviewed Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook the No.2 leader in Hamas. He was in New York under arrest at the time. I think it was 1996 and the Israeli Jewish lobby got the congress to pass a law outlawing Hamas and so Abu Marzook, who was living in America as a successful businessman, was imprisoned.
I got permission to interview him and do three reality TV programs. I don’t think the Obama people ever said anything positive about Hamas; I think they did say they were going to re-invigorate the peace process – but those are just words, slogans, the devil is in the detail and all that meant was that we (the US) are going to say they have to stop building settlements.
Well, Obama made a joke and a fool out of himself. Didn’t anyone tell him what was going to happen the moment he tried to get the Israelis to stop building settlements? There is a whole history that goes back to Camp David and US President Carter who also told the world that he had got the Israelis to agree to stop settlements and then the Israelis at that time made a fool out of that president by saying they had discussed freezing settlements, but only for 90 days. And then after that they escalated their program and we now live in the world we live in.
The story of how Obama became president, how he got support is important here. Obama is a different kind of president and we were all relieved. It was very embarrassing for eight years and more so for people throughout the world that suffered and were being killed by a US president who frankly (it’s not said in Washington and it’s not the kind of thing said at meetings, but many of us consider them as war criminals and we consider Cheney and Bush; they fit the definition of war criminals).
When Obama ran for president he stood for human rights, he was bright and principled, but then during the campaign certain things happened.
First of all the top financiers of the Democratic Party half of them are Jewish and almost all of those are quite Zionist and quite involved with the Israelis. At the time when Hilary Clinton and Obama were competing for support AIPAC had its annual convention.
On that day Obama gave a speech and he gave more than what was expected. Lee Hamilton who was on Obama’s advisory board said to me that he went too far – he shouldn’t have said what he said about Jerusalem – we’re going to be correcting it. After the speech, behind the scenes, he was taken to meet the Board of Directors of AIPAC. Rahm Israel Emanuel, former White House Chief of Staff escorted him upstairs to the hotel room.
This is very unusual, presidency candidates don’t usually get interviewed by boards of directors like this, but AIPAC is different. The way the Israeli community signaled that they were going to support Obama, without actually announcing that they had even had a meeting with him, was to have Rahm endorse Obama. So a few hours later Rahm came out in public and did that, which was the signal to the rest of us that Obama had made his peace with this lobby and that he wasn’t going to be able to do anything they weren’t going to approve of.
Press TV: You mentioned that it was well-known to you that the Arab-Israeli conflict will be political cancer if it was not resolved, and at this point it has become the cancer that you mentioned. What has been the main obstacle of not reaching a solution?
Bruzonsky: America is the super power – American money; American arms; American UN vetos; American military support at critical times. The Israelis took a decision way back in the 1940s – and it goes back to the holocaust and back to Jewish impotence; there’s lots of factors it’s not black and white. It was a powerless community, I was part of it – born into a family that my mother and father would tell me we lost all of our relatives nobody knows where they are or they were all killed or maybe some escaped to what had become Israel.
The US has prevented a settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict because the Israelis set up such powerful institutions, lobbies, publications, personalities and control in various ways of political parties and of the media making it impossible for American leaders to do what they knew they should do to solve this cancer; and it goes way back to General Marshall the secretary of state.
When President Truman told Marshall that he was going to accept a Jewish state, Marshall was going to resign saying it’s not in the interests of the US it is going to be war, which we won’t be able to end; it’s going to get worse; it’s going to unleash forces we won’t be able to control – he was exactly right.
At every critical moment since: Eisenhower tried to do things in the 1950s, Carter tried to do things in the 1970s, but they were blocked. There are plenty of books and academic information about this.
The Israelis then realized since they had control of the US, and Sharon said it bluntly back in 2001, he and Peres had a little debate in a cabinet meeting and the word that leaked out from that meeting was that Peres said that we’ve got to be careful, the Americans aren’t happy with what we’re doing and Sharon said stop worrying about the Americans we control things in America, I’ll take care of things there don’t worry about it. – And he was right.
I’ve been watching all this. I did a lot of traveling for a lot of years through the Middle East while the US has been my home base; and it’s been outrageous.
Bruzonsky: I was a kid journalist just out of school. The Egyptian Embassy in Washington read something I had written. It was a movie review about a film called, “Children of Rage.” And they called me and said it was very interesting and asked if I would like to be the first Jewish journalist that has ever been invited by our government.
Of course I said yes. So I went for three weeks and I met everybody: the Foreign Minister, the Minister of State, and then they said to me that they knew the three weeks were up but they wanted me to stay longer because the President wanted to meet with me. And they were so surprised when I said I could stay one more day, but I really have other places I have to go. So I said to thank him so much and it was a great honor and so nice to meet all of them, and I took off.
I went to Oman and then I went to Israel. There was going to be a big peace conference and you will see the connections in just a minute. There was going to be this big peace conference. So I get to Israel and I go to the new outlet magazine, which was sponsoring the conference and George Ball, the most important under Secretary of State, the man who helped resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis was going to be the speaker.
And they said to me Mark where have you been. And I said I’ve just been to Egypt. I said I’m here because they wanted me to stay and meet the President but I’m at your peace conference. And they said oh my god don’t you know what has happened. And I didn’t because I had been traveling and it wasn’t like you could tune in to Al-Jazeera in those days. They said the President gave a speech and said he is willing to go anywhere and do anything to bring peace. They said you were supposed to have a meeting with him, and I said yes.
I was in Israel for about six hours. They gave me a whole bunch of cash and wrote a letter and said Mark go back to Cairo and meet the President and invite him to come to our peace conference. So later I’m sitting with the President of Egypt and I’ve given him this invitation, and he was asking me about my three weeks in his country.
So there I am and it’s a little hard for me to believe that I’m sitting with the President of Egypt all alone. Maybe forty to fifty feet away there is someone from the Ministry of  Interiors or somebody to protect, but he can’t even hear he was so far away. And I was so disappointed because at the end of the meeting which was very nice he said I’m very sorry but I will not be able to come to your peace conference. Then I suppose I was just looking sad. I don’t remember saying anything.
But he said I have decided I will send a telegram to this conference. And I already knew that leaders in the Arab world do not send telegrams to Israel. I had never heard of such a thing. There wasn’t a procedure. I figured it was just his way of being polite to me. I literally had to leave on the first flight in the morning, and I went to a travel agent that was recommended to me, but at the moment I whispered Israel it was don’t say another word about Israel.
We can’t talk about Israel here and there is no way we can get you to Israel. He said first flight in the morning goes to Athens and that is all I can do. So I said okay and I’m on my flight to Athens. I’m dog tired and I’m half asleep. I traveled so much in those days the moment anybody asked me anything I would say orange juice and English.
When I woke up on the plane, there was this newspaper in front of me, The Egyptian Gazette. And I wasn’t sure if I was hallucinating or dreaming because as my eyes cleared I said good god that’s me. There is this big picture of me and Sadat on the front page at the top of the paper. But there was no story. It was just Journalist Mark Bruzonsky meets President Sadat. There was no story; no nothing. A day later I’m called aside by the Chairman of the conference. He said Mark in one hour there is a press conference and all the media will be here.
You have to come sit up front and you have to tell everybody about your meeting with the President. And I said what’s going on, what’s going on. He said you know the office is closed but we are all at the hotel. We sent somebody back to get some papers and under the door is this telegram. It wasn’t just oh, hope you had a nice conference.
It was a whole page of the importance of peace to the region and what this conflict has done. It was a very long statement which I learned later was written for him. And for 24 hours I was the guy who met the President! It was I that had arranged this telegram and then on Thursday morning came the unbelievable announcement. The President of Egypt arrives to Israel on Shabbat (Saturday) as soon as the sun goes down.
And it’s like something out of some dream, as people starting arriving within hours. A press center was set up in almost minutes. There were free phones. Anybody could pick up a phone and call anywhere. And on Saturday night he arrived and I went to the airport with the Egyptian press delegation. We all thought the world was going to change now.
The Israelis would feel accepted, the Palestinians would have their homeland, for at the time it was called a homeland and we weren’t even talking about a state. Then unfortunately everything started to deteriorate, and three years later Sadat was assassinated and it has been downhill ever since.
Press TV: So the postponement on the decision on settlements led to the fact that it was termed an occupation issue in the eyes of the international community, and everyone who was observing the settlement issues thought it was a contested issue. At that point the issue of settlement could be contested after Oslo. Before that it was an occupation and it wasn’t even discussed.
Bruzonsky: Once the Israelis got the PA (Abbas was the man who actually signed the document) at the White House. Once they got them to sign this agreement and become their collaborating regime without having to agree to stop the settlements. That’s symbolic. If the Israelis weren’t going to stop enlarging the occupation, how could we possibly consider this a major step on the way to a peace settlement? So it was the symbolism of it. Not the actual settlement here or there. The Israelis never intended to stop the settlements.
Rabin in my judgment never attended for what he was signing to end up being a Palestinian state. For them it was autonomy we packaged under different names and they were hiring Arafat and his people to control the Palestinian people.
That of course is the origin of the growth of Hamas because many non-religious people and many who had been supporters of Fatah and of more secular things decided we are going to support Hamas. At least they are honest and dignified. At least they have principals and are not corrupt. And Fatah has sold us out. That’s the origins of how in 2006 Hamas was elected.
Press TV: I’m going to dare ask this question to wrap up. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?
Bruzonsky: It’s a very long, dark tunnel now but hopefully saner, wiser policies will prevail down the road. And we can’t afford this anymore. Our own empire is collapsing financially, morally, and spiritually in terms of the credibility of American institutions. We don’t feel it so much in Washington, but around the country, the Tea Party and the other movements is representative of a feeling that our future is dissolving in our place in the world, and our standard of living and what we are providing for our children. There is big conflict here and we don’t have the resources to continue these policies even if you want to argue the policies are right.
Press TV: Mark Bruzonsky, thank you very much for joining us on the Autograph.
Bruzonsky: Thank you Susan.
