Rebellion Spreads … EU Elites Have Miscalculated?

From The Daily Bell

April 05, 2012 – by Staff Report

For those who missed the story, a 77-year old retired pharmacist – Dimitris Christoulas – has shot himself to death in front of the Greek Parliament in Syntagma Square, protesting the degradation of his country. It is a call to arms, a poignant moment in Europe’s unfolding drama, reminiscent of the Buddhist self-immolations of south-east Asia that so captured world attention.

His suicide note refers to the Quisling regime of George Tsolakoglou under Axis occupation in World War Two. We have entered perilous waters in Europe. Greece is not an isolated case. Variants of the Greek tragedy are unfolding in a string of countries as they embark on similar policies of self-feeding contraction, as will become clear over the next two years. Spain’s youth unemployment is already 50.5pc. – UK Telegraph/Ambrose Evans-Pritchard

Dominant Social Theme: This death is shocking. We are so sorry! (Nothing will change, though) …

Free-Market Analysis: We have often written that the power elite‘s reaction to the Internet Reformation is one that will not be entirely successful. The suicide of Dimitris Christoulas may perhaps support this contention.

We see and hear, as do you … And we have watched what we call the Internet Reformation unfold over time and the elite’s reaction to it. At first there was indifference. Now there is something approaching panic, in our view.

The dynastic families that want to run the world – and already apparently run the world’s central banks – have traveled the route that they took after the advent of the Gutenberg Press, which also enlightened the masses about the Way the World Worked.

They have tried to co-opt the expanding illumination without much success thus far. They’ve used a series of false-flag intermediaries, in our view, including perhaps Julian Assange, Anonymous and, in aggregate, Occupy Wall Street.

This is analogous to the apparent use of Martin Luther and John Calvin to split the Catholic Church long ago. There’s even some anecdotal evidence of support for Oliver Cromwell and his activities in deposing British royalty for a generation.

But ultimately, the elites of the day were REACTING to the Gutenberg Press much as they are, from our point of view, nowadays. The escalating responses to the Internet are quite in line with this.

The elites generally use war, economic depression and authoritarianism to keep order during stressful times, though ordinarily they prefer to use dominant social themes.

These fear-based promotions are intended to frighten people into accepting globalist solutions and generally to establish internationalism. But they are not working so well in this era of the Internet.

And so … as we have noticed, the elites have grown increasingly brutal. Certainly, having built up the EU they are busy creating increased centralization.

We figure this is the REAL reason for austerity. The Greeks are being pounded on as an example to others. But beyond this the misery spreading throughout the PIGS is real. The idea generally is to make people in the West so miserable that they will not be able to object to the “new world order” the elites have in mind.

Where does the death of Dimitris Christoulas fit into all of this? Well … it’s being covered intensively by the mainstream press, which means there’s some sort of elite promotional angle to it.

We figure the promotion is simply more of the same. It’s part of the kind of dialectic that the elite likes to establish to control the conversation and manipulate society toward desired ends.

On the one side you have vicious austerity and on the other you’ve got people offing themselves. Now, perhaps the idea is to reach a middle ground where the Greeks will exist as a cowed and miserable people, just not miserable enough either to rebel or commit suicide en masse.

But here’s the thing: There’s no evidence that the suicide of this poor man was staged that we can see, or that the stinging suicide note he left is a forgery. And even if both the suicide and letter were somehow the product of elite manipulation, we’d still argue the result is the same.

The elites are playing catch-up. They’ve been exposed via the Internet just as the Gutenberg Press exposed their machinations and manipulations so long ago.

The elites of the day used that exposure to try to make changes in society that worked to their benefit. But there’s no doubt, from what we can tell, that those reactions were accommodative.

The elites didn’t desire a Renaissance. Nor did they desire a New World or a small “R” republican “united States.”

The elites, in our view, neither anticipated nor welcomed the phenomenon that has become the Internet. They have dealt with it as best they can and have apparently speeded up their plans to achieve globalism as a result.

Within this context, the death of Dimitris Christoulas enlightens us. There is probably no doubt that his death will be manipulated – and is already being manipulated – for purposes of reinforcing an “austerity” dialectic.

But manipulations only go so far. At some point the anger is real and the truth is not to be gainsaid. This may be one of those moments. Evans-Pritchard, despite his soft-peddling of the Greek situation in this article, writes eloquently about the death itself:

The event has happened, and such events have consequences … The structure of monetary union is the root cause of this deepening crisis, since it shuts off the usual solutions: the policy mix of fiscal and monetary contraction under way simultaneously in countries containing 140m people is making it even worse … Much hope is being placed on belt-tightening, and on root-and-branch reforms that will take five to 10 years to bear fruit. Mr Christoulas has alerted Europe that civil society will not wait.

The elites can practice damage control – as they are doing – while simultaneously plunging the world into war and depression. But ultimately the Internet remains, along with its illumination.

It is a process, not an episode. It will not likely be stilled, redirected or ameliorated. It will run its course. The powers-that-be have by now realized this, though that has only spurred them to redouble their efforts.

But at some point reality will set in. They will probably have to take a step back. They may have no choice. There are billions who are not elites and only a few who are. And some of those who are not are likely willing to die to change things. This is likely a fearful prospect for the elites.

Conclusion: They do not sleep well at night, either.

Monsanto Threatens to Sue Vermont if Legislators Pass a Bill Requiring GMO Food to Be Labeled

From AlterNet.org

What it really comes down to this: Elected officials are abandoning the public interest and public will in the face of corporate intimidation.

April 4, 2012  |

The world’s most hated corporation is at it again, this time in Vermont.

Despite overwhelming public support and support from a clear majority ofVermont’s Agriculture Committee, Vermont legislators are dragging their feet on a proposed GMO labeling bill. Why? Because Monsanto has threatened to sue the state if the bill passes.

The popular legislative bill requiring mandatory labels on genetically engineered food (H-722) is languishing in the Vermont House Agriculture Committee, with only four weeks left until the legislature adjourns for the year. Despite thousands of emails and calls from constituents who overwhelmingly support mandatory labeling, despite the fact that a majority (6 to 5) of Agriculture Committee members support passage of the measure, Vermont legislators are holding up the labeling bill and refusing to take a vote.

Instead, they’re calling for more public hearings on April 12, in the apparent hope that they can run out the clock until the legislative session ends in early May.

What happened to the formerly staunch legislative champions of Vermont’s “right to know” bill? They lost their nerve and abandoned their principles after Monsanto representative recently threatened a public official that the biotech giant would sue Vermont if they dared to pass the bill. Several legislators have rather unconvincingly argued that the Vermont public has a “low appetite” for any bills, even very popular bills like this one, that might end up in court. Others expressed concern about Vermont being the first state to pass a mandatory GMO labeling bill and then having to “go it alone” against Monsanto in court.

What it really comes down to this: Elected officials are abandoning the public interest and public will in the face of corporate intimidation.

Monsanto has used lawsuits or threats of lawsuits for 20 years to force unlabeled genetically engineered foods on the public, and to intimidate farmers into buying their genetically engineered seeds and hormones. When Vermont became the first state in the nation in 1994 to require mandatory labels on milk and dairy products derived from cows injected with the controversial genetically engineered Bovine Growth Hormone, Monsanto’s minions sued in Federal Court and won on a judge’s decision that dairy corporations have the first amendment “right” to remain silent on whether or not they are injecting their cows with rBGH – even though rBGH has been linked to severe health damage in cows and increased cancer risk for humans, and is banned in much of the industrialized world, including Europe and Canada.

Monsanto wields tremendous influence in Washington, DC and most state capitals. The company’s stranglehold over politicians and regulatory officials is what has prompted activists in California to bypass the legislature and collect 850,000 signatures to place a citizens’ Initiative on the ballot in November 2012. The 2012 California Right to Know Act will force mandatory labeling of GMOs and to ban the routine practice of labeling GMO-tainted food as “natural.”

All of Monsanto’s fear mongering and intimidation tactics were blatantly on display in the House Agriculture Committee hearings March 15-16.

During the hearings the Vermont legislature was deluged with calls, letters, and e-mails urging passage of a GMO labeling bill – more than on any other bill since the fight over Civil Unions in 1999-2000. The legislature heard from pro-labeling witnesses such as Dr. Michael Hansen, an expert on genetic engineering from the Consumers Union, who shredded industry claims that GMO’s are safe and that consumers don’t need to know if their food is contaminated with them.

On the other side of the fence, Monsanto’s lobbyist and Vermont mouthpiece, Margaret Laggis employed inaccurate, unsubstantiated, fear-mongering claims to make Monsanto’s case. She warned during the hearings that if this law were passed, there would not be enough corn, canola, and soybean seed for Vermont farmers to plant.

Laggis lied when she said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had done exhaustive feeding tests on genetically modified foods. Hansen corrected her, testifying that all of the GMO feeding tests submitted to the FDA were conducted by Monsanto and other GMO corporations and that the FDA had not done any GMO testing of its own.

Laggis lied again when she claimed that a recent Canadian study showing that more than 90% pregnant women had high levels of a genetically modified bacterial pesticide in their blood resulted from them “eating too much organic food” during pregnancy. Again, Hansen refuted this nonsense by pointing out that the Bacillus thuingensis (Bt) bacterium spray used by organic growers is chemically and materially different from the GMO Bt bacterium which showed up in the pregnant women’s blood and the umbilical cords of their fetuses. Hanson pointed that the high levels of Monsanto’s mutant Bt in the women’s blood was due to the widespread cultivation of GMO corn, cotton, soy, and canola.

The committee heard testimony that European Union studies have been conducted which showed that even short-term feeding studies of GMO crops caused 43.5% of male test animals to suffer kidney abnormalities, and 30.8% of female test animals to suffer liver abnormalities. Studies also have shown that the intestinal lining of animals fed GMO food was thickened compared to the control animals. All of these short-term results could become chronic, and thus precursors to cancer.

Studies like these have prompted 50 nations around the world to pass laws requiring mandatory labels on GMO right foods.

In the end, none of the scientific testimony mattered. Monsanto operatives simply reverted to their usual tactics: They openly threatened to sue the state.

Unfortunately in the US, industry and the government continue to side with Monsanto rather than the 90% of consumers who support labeling. Monsanto’s biotech bullying is a classic example of how the 1% control the rest of us, even in Vermont, generally acknowledged as the most progressive state in the nation.

Vermont activists are organizing a protest at the state capital on April 12 to coincide with the next round of hearings on H-722, and are asking residents to write letters, make calls, and e-mail their legislators and the Governor. Millions of Pounds of Toxic Poison to Flood US Farmland

Millions of Pounds of Toxic Poison to Flood US Farmland by Cassandra Anderson

The EPA announced that it has completed the first part of its study on dioxin, after more than 25 years of stonewalling.

Dioxin is the most caustic man-made chemical known.  Dioxin is a general term for hundreds of chemicals that are produced in industrial processes that use chlorine and burning. Disturbingly, it has a half-life of 100+ years when it is leached into soil or embedded in water systems.  Dioxin was the most harmful component in Agent Orange (the recipe for Agent Orange is 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T herbicides).

The EPA says that air emissions of dioxin have decreased by 90% since the 1980′s, but dioxin is dangerous at any level.  The study appears to omit any analysis of dioxin transmission in water and land.  The danger is growing because Dow AgroScience has received preliminary USDA approval for its 2,4-D herbicide resistant GMO corn.  This means that dioxin contaminated 2,4-D herbicide will drench US farm land and pollute water supplies if the crops are widely planted.

EPA Dioxin Assessment Report

The EPA’s press release on dioxin’s health effects trumpeted the lie that current exposure rates “don’t pose significant health risks”.  But the EPA does admit that there is a cancer risk, although they are not releasing their study on cancer at this time.  Perhaps the delay is due to the fact that 95% of Americans have measurable levels of dioxin in their bodies.

The EPA’s claim that current levels are not a health risk is contradicted by another webpage on the EPA’s own site says that dioxin accumulates over a lifetime, persists for years, is likely to lead to an increased risk of cancer, and that the current exposure levels are “uncomfortably” close to levels that can cause “subtle” non-cancer effects.  These so-called subtle effects may include birth defects, reproductive problems and immunosuppression.

There were 500,000 victims of birth defects in Viet Nam that can hardly be considered subtle.  Dioxin is bad at any level especially since it accumulates in the body.

Humans are exposed to dioxin primarily through food sources.  The EPA’s press release fails to mention that people who eat animal based foods like meat, dairy and eggs will continually increase their dioxin levels.

If dioxin is so safe, why does the Veterans Administration make automatic payments for a wide range of claims that include several types of cancers and leukemia, liver disease, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease and diabetes?  American taxpayers are footing the bill for veterans’ Agent Orange dioxin injuries that are estimated to cost $42 billion over the next 10 years!  Monsanto and Dow, the top 2 Agent Orange producers, should pay for all damages — not taxpayers.

While the EPA’s press release does acknowledge “certain industrial activities” as a cause of dioxin pollution, they omit any reference to chemical herbicides and pesticides.  The EPA doesn’t mention that herbicide 2,4-D (half of the Agent Orange recipe) is the seventh largest source of dioxin in the US.  Dow Chemical is the biggest 2,4-D manufacturer, and Dow is also listed as the #2 and #3 biggest industrial dioxin dumper in the US.  Herbicide 2,4-D is polluting groundwater.

Shocking EPA Omission

The most disturbing omission by the EPA is its complete lack of oversight of a specific type of dioxin, 2,7-DCDD, that is one of the most potent kinds of dioxin.  It is reported that DCDD is an inevitable by-product of 2,4-D herbicide manufacturing.  The EPA doesn’t even regulate or monitor DCDD!

Therefore, the EPA’s report is incomplete and the true levels of dioxin are unknown.

Agent Orange GMOs

The sun is setting on Monsanto’s empire as their glyphosate herbicide is losing its effectiveness due to super weeds that have developed a tolerance to their glyphosate poison.  Dow is slated to produce the next generation of GMOs which will include 2,4-D resistant corn, soy and cotton.

Farmers who don’t want to take the trouble to use targeted weed control and hand picking weeds prefer GMO products because they can just spray their crops with huge doses of herbicide and forget about them until harvest.  From 1996 to 2008, GMO crops were responsible for 383 million pounds of herbicides sprayed on farmland in the US. These are the same genetically modified foods sold on grocery store shelves worldwide.

Therefore, we can expect a dramatic increase in dioxin production and pollution because Dow’s 2,4-D herbicide resistant crops will be saturated with the tainted herbicide.

Dow AgroScience & Monsanto

Dow AgroScience and Monsanto have struck up a partnership to produce stacked trait crops that will be resistant to Dow’s 2,4-D and Monsanto’s glyphosate poisons. It appears that Dow and Monsanto may be creating a cartel arrangement by joining forces to eliminate competition.

Monsanto and Dow have been able to skate away from accountability for damage caused by their products because diseases like cancer can take years to incubate.  Victims are required to prove their injuries were directly caused by exposure to a carcinogen years after the exposure.  This is nearly impossible to do.

Monsanto and Dow should be made to prove their products are safe.  Federal agency (EPA, FDA, USDA, etc) regulations are profoundly ineffective.

Remediation Clean Up

The EPA’s assessment will hopefully lead to remediation (clean up) of the environment in areas with high dioxin levels.  The costs could be staggering because the proper process for soil remediation is to block tainted soil with concrete barriers to prevent water runoff into steams and then incinerating the soil.  Water remediation is even more difficult.

Dow Chemical appears to be worried about this because they just agreed to buy dioxin contaminated homes near their Michigan dioxin-emitting plant.

If Monsanto were forced to clean up their pollution, they would go bankrupt.

The EPA omitted critical information in its assessment, and current dioxin levels are a significant health risk. Dioxin levels will increase when Dow’s Agent Orange 2,4-D resistant crops are planted.

The EPA’s lack of interest in dioxin DCDD is disgusting.  Dioxin DCDD that contaminates 2,4-D herbicide is not tested, measured or monitored by the EPA, or even regulated.  A Canadian research paper states that dioxin DCDD may have large public health implications due to its prevalence in our food and environment.

78 percent increase in autism rates over past decade coincides with new vaccination schedules

From InfoWars.com

Jonathan Benson
April 3, 2012

The rate of autism among American children has nearly doubled over the past decade, according to a new report released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), jumping from about one in 150 children back in 2000 to about one in 88 children in 2008, which is the last time official estimates were calculated. And interestingly, this steady rise in autism rates coincides directly with CDC-endorsed vaccination schedules that have also risen sharply since the 1980s.

Back in 1983, for example, the CDC recommended only ten vaccines for children from birth through six years old (http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/images/schedule1983s.jpg). Today, that number has risen significantly to 29 vaccines and counting, many of which are now administered all at one time or in combinations like the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine (http://www.cdc.gov).

And yet the mainstream medical system and its allies in the government and media are willfully ignoring this glaring fact, blaming “unknown” causes and “genetics” for causing autism, which are the two most common catch-all scapegoats. And in explaining the drastic rise in autism rates over the years, the talking heads actually claim that there is no rise — the seemingly elevated autism rates are merely the result of improved autism screening methods that are now identifying more cases.

Vaccines, fluoride, MSG, GMOs, toxic chemicals, processed foods – the real causes of autism

Sadly, these laughably unscientific excuses for this epidemic condition are actually being taken seriously by many people, while the true causes of autism — vaccines, fluoridated water, monosodium glutamate (MSG), genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), toxic chemicals, and processed foods — continue to remain taboo subjects when talking about autism.

But any rational human being that takes the time to objectively investigate the science behind how autism spectrum disorders are, at the very least, spurred on by these and other toxins, will quickly realize that the ugly truth about autism is being concealed from the public. And while these factors may not cause autism symptoms in every single person that is exposed to them, they surely trigger it in many, especially when exposures are combined and persistent.

Vaccines, for instance, which the medical establishment have presumptuously declared to play absolutely no role in autism, continue to show up in independent, non-pharma-sponsored research as a cause of autism. Whether they contain thimerosal (mercury) or not, vaccines are definitively linked to neurological disorders that were largely non-existent prior to mass-vaccination campaigns.

Even the kangaroo “vaccine court” has quietly admitted this, having settled with several families whose children were injured by vaccines. Back in 2009, for instance, a vaccine court ruled that Bailey Banks, a young boy who suffered acute brain damage after getting the MMR vaccine, had indeed been injured by the vaccine. Special Master Richard Abell wrote at the time that “the MMR vaccine at issue actually caused the conditions from which Bailey suffered and continues to suffer” (http://www.ageofautism.com).

The case was one of several that has received little or no media attention, and yet it speaks volumes about the dangers associated with vaccines. It also exposes the lies of the deniers who have declared that vaccines are in no way related to autism — case closed.

And besides vaccines, fluoridated water, MSG (http://www.msgtruth.org/autism.htm), GMOs (http://www.ageofautism.com), toxic chemicals both in the environment and in the food supply, and processed foods in general have all been linked to autism spectrum disorders as well (http://www.tacanow.org/family-resources/living-in-a-toxic-world/).

How to Build a Conspiracy Theory

By George Ure

April 05, 2012

A reader sent along a link to the details of how that “faster-than-light” neutrinos story may have gone wrong – because of loose cables.  Wonders the reader: wouldn’t this make the case that basic electronics learning is a survival skill?

Don’t know it was intended or not, but the date on the story FWIW seems to be in the future, so maybe those neutrinos really……hmmm.

By the way, I got thorough trounced by a few readers who said my perception of cold fusion notworking is dead wrong.  Typical:

“Cold Fusion” has actually become mainstream science in many institutions (including MIT) although most scientists checking this out don’t think it is actually conventional fusion that is causing the heat gains reported in the experiments. There is actually a guy in Italy named Andrea Rossi that has a production ready cold fusion reactor based on a proprietary nickel catalyst that is almost ready for market – it recently passed proof of concept trials in December. His unit is scalable and reportedly can provide up to 10 megawatts of thermal output. Here is a link to an article on his research from last November:

Link here.

OK, here’s where we can see the new and improved Overarching Conspiracy Theory coming into view.  Here’s how it works:

Before you can have an internationalist corporate conspiracy, you need a multi-trillion dollar opportunity – something that would put humankind more and more under the thumb of “The Man” – and what better than water?

The basis of the conspiracy is therefore 1989-1990 when Fleishmann and Pons are busy first announcing and then defending their work.

The first step (for the Illuminists) would be to cover-up their cold fusion break-through by scientific mumbo-jumbo and discrediting.  Easily done in science by the “peer review process” since he who writes the checks buys the peers.  This takes the breakthrough out of the public mindset over a 4-5 year period.

 Meme Substitution

Another key move would be to take the mental/headspace which the term “cold fusion” occupied in the public mind and replace it with something elses – but with an entirely different meaning to shunt the public off the scent of cheap and abundant power.

Presto!  Along comes 1995 and the naming of a computer programming language as ColdFusion

I am not saying that ColdFusion’s naming is really a conspiracy but what I am illustrating here is how easily a conspiracy can be constructed.

 Step 1:

Quietly get people to thinking, in a series of health articles, that they need to drink water…almost all the time.  Coffee in the morning and then water throughout the rest of the day.  I saw the change first-hand work its way into a software company in the 2002-2003 period which we could use as the base of this Great Water Conspiracy.

 Step 2:

Gradually work up the idea of bottled water going up in price…and in the absurdity of it all, dismiss wonks like (Ures truly) who noticed that something was wrong in the world when low-end beer started being cheaper than bottled waters.

 Step 3:

Ramp up public awareness of water with stories like “Pepsi says Aquafina is tap water” which popped up in 2007.  By n ow, water is crowding out the corn-sugar pops at the corner convenience store and the price is going up.  A cheap bottle of water is 79¢ to a buck.

 Step 4:

Hint to the public through various channels that fresh water is a global asset and one that could disappear in the future. Why does the Clive Cussler novel Blue Gold ($10, Amazon) come to mind? We’re up to 2008 by now.

Step 5:
Concept takes root. Books that hint at a future of very expensive water come out. Let’s use this as an example from 2009 Heart of Dryness: How the Last Bushmen Can Help Us Endure the Coming Age of Permanent Drought ($20).

Love that term: “Permanent Drought.” That’s gonna keep water prices high.

Step 6:
Even when stories start to pop out, like the one from last November than an “Italian Cold Fusion machine Passes Another Test” rest comfortably knowing that with more than 20-years to work the problem, the Illuminists have had time to drive up the price of water, work out all the details of branding it, and soon, they ought to be lining up centrifuges or whatever they need to start differentiating water from being “plain” to seriously “optimized.”

Step 7:
Since the living water crowd is already out there, all they’d need to do to start selling “refined water” is to explain to the public, through a series of ads how this is all gonna work:
[Voice over with a Sam Elliott type high cred male voice]

“We all know what is good, but new breakthroughs in water science have discovered that part of aging and disease comes from naturally occurring radioactivity in water at the cellular level.

Yes, the very natural element deuterium – which is used in atomic power and weapons – has been found to be at the core of cellular aging.

{XYZ Water} is now offering reduced radiation water which is made by spinning it as high speeds to remove the low-level radioactive elements which accumulate over a lifetime to cause cell level changes that lead to diseases like cancer.

Look for it soon… ExtendoLife Water…”
The sweet part is, the price gets driven up again, and the more concentrated (deuterium-rich water) is really jacked up and sold to the home power crowd at just the right concentration to keep the cost per kilowatt-hour, slightly below fossil, in order to cause a modulated migration which will be funded by the Illuminista Bankster Division.

There. Pretty damn cool conspiracy theory, huh? Easy to make, and I’d wager one of these days, perhaps using some of the data in “Radiation effects in wild terrestrial vertebrates – the EPIC collection” by Sazykina and Kryshev as a basis, a complete longitudinal study could be modeled (you do have a Cray, right?) suggesting that Nature has a kind of built-in death curve which this newest pet crackpot conspiracy theory would sketch out like this:

There…can’t have a good crackpot theory without it meeting the necessary criteria on the web to get legs and run, namely:

  • An assortment of facts, arranged in an appealing way.

  • A huge conspiratorial angle liker global control and all the money in the world.

  • Some science that’s real, some that’s not – merely hypothecated.

  • A general direction of future developments.

  • And some real simple graphics to make sure people “get it” about what’s going on in the conspiracy.

Oh, and if reduced radiation level water shows up, don’t blame me…I’m a victim of that computer disease XMT.  Extensible Markup Thinking.  I really oughta tell you about that one of these days…

And not to be confused with the robot jellyfish powered by seawater
