 Washington Leads World Into Lawlessness

From Activist Post

April 13, 2012

Paul Craig Roberts
Activist Post

The US government pretends to live under the rule of law, to respect human rights, and to provide freedom and democracy to citizens. Washington’s pretense and the stark reality are diametrically opposed.

US government officials routinely criticize other governments for being undemocratic and for violating human rights. Yet, no other country except Israel sends bombs, missiles, and drones into sovereign countries to murder civilian populations.

The torture prisons of Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and CIA secret rendition sites are the contributions of the Bush/Obama regimes to human rights.

Washington violates the human rights of its own citizens. Washington has suspended the civil liberties guaranteed in the US Constitution and declared its intention to detain US citizens indefinitely without due process of law.

President Obama has announced that he, at his discretion, can murder US citizens whom he regards as a threat to the US.

Congress did not respond to these extraordinary announcements with impeachment proceedings. There was no uproar from the federal courts, law schools, or bar associations.

Glenn Greenwald reports that the Department of Homeland Security harasses journalists who refuse to be presstitutes, and we have seen videos of the brutal police oppression of peaceful OWS protestors. Chris Floyd describes the torture-perverts who rule the US.

Now Washington is forcing as much of the world as it can to overthrow international treaties and international law. Washington has issued a ukase that its word alone is international law.

Any country, except those who receive Washington’s dispensation, that engages in trade with Iran or purchases Iran’s oil will be sanctioned by the US.

These countries will be cut off from US markets, and their banking systems will not be able to use banks that process international payments. In other words, Washington’s “sanctions against Iran” apply not to Iran but to countries that defy Washington and meet their energy needs with Iranian oil.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, so far Washington has granted special privileges to Japan and 10 European Union countries to continue purchasing Iranian oil.

Requiring countries to shutdown their economies in order to comply with Washington’s vendetta against Iran, a vendetta that has been ongoing ever since the Iranians overthrew the Washington-installed puppet, the Shah of Iran, more than three decades ago, was more than Washington could get away with.

Washington has permitted Japan to keep importing between 78-85% of its normal oil imports from Iran.

Washington’s dispensations, however, are arbitrary. Dispensations have not been granted to China, India, Turkey, and South Korea. India and China are the largest importers of Iranian oil, and Turkey and South Korea are among the top ten importers.

Before looking at possible unintended consequences of Washington’s vendetta against Iran, what is Washington’s case against Iran?

Frankly, Washington has no case. It is the hoax of “weapons of mass destruction” all over again. Iran, unlike Israel, signed the non-proliferation treaty. All countries that sign the treaty have the right to nuclear energy.

Washington claims that Iran is violating the treaty by developing a nuclear weapon. There is no evidence whatsoever for Washington’s assertion. Washington’s own 16 intelligence agencies are unanimous that Iran has had no nuclear weapon’s program since 2003.

Moreover, the International Atomic Energy Agency’s weapons inspectors are in Iran and have reported consistently that there is no diversion of nuclear material from the energy program to a weapons program.

On the rare occasion when Washington is reminded of the facts, Washington makes a different case.

Washington asserts that Iran’s rights under the non-proliferation treaty notwithstanding, Iran cannot have a nuclear energy program, because Iran would then have learned enough to be able at some future time to make a bomb.

The world’s hegemon has unilaterally decided that the possibility that Iran might one day decide to make a nuke is too great a risk to take.

It is better, Washington says, to drive up the oil price, disrupt the world economy, violate international law, and risk a major war than to have to worry that a future Iranian government will make a nuclear weapon.

This is the Jeremy Bentham tyrannical approach to law that was repudiated by the Anglo-American legal system.

It is difficult to characterize Washington’s position as one of good judgment. Moreover, Washington has never explained the huge risk Washington sees in the possibility of an Iranian nuke.

Why is this risk so much greater than the risk associated with Soviet nukes or with the nukes of the US, Russia, China, Israel, Pakistan, India, and North Korea today?

Iran is a relatively small country. It does not have Washington’s world hegemonic ambitions. Unlike Washington, Iran is not at war with a half dozen countries.

Why is Washington destroying America’s reputation as a country that respects law and risking a major war and economic dislocation over some possible future development, the probability of which is unknown?

There is no good answer to this question. Lacking evidence for a case against Iran, Washington and Israel have substituted demonization. The lie has been established as truth that the current president of Iran intends to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

This lie has succeeded as propaganda even though numerous language experts have proven that the intention attributed to the Iranian president by American-Israeli propaganda is a gross mistranslation of what the president of Iran said.

Once again, for Washington and its presstitutes, facts do not count. The agenda is all that counts, and any lie will be used to advance the agenda.

Washington’s sanctions could end up biting Washington harder than they bite Iran.

What will Washington do if India, China, Turkey and South Korea do not succumb to Washington’s threats?

According to recent news reports, India and China are not inclined to inconvenience themselves and to harm their economic development in order to support Washington’s vendetta against Iran.

Having watched China’s rapid rise and having observed North Korea’s immunity to American attack, South Korea might be wondering how much longer it intends to remain Washington’s puppet state.

Turkey, where the civilian and somewhat Islamist government has managed to become independent of the US- controlled Turkish military, appears to be slowly coming to the realization that Washington and NATO have Turkey in a “service role” in which Turkey is Washington’s agent against its own kind.

The Turkish government appears to be reassessing the benefits of being Washington’s pawn.

What Turkey and South Korea decide is basically a decision whether the countries will be independent countries or be subsumed within Washington’s empire. The success of the American-Israeli assault on Iran’s independence depends on India and China.

If India and China give the bird to Washington, what can Washington do? Absolutely nothing.

What if Washington, drowning in its gigantic hubris, announced sanctions against India and China? Wal-Mart’s shelves would be empty, and America’s largest retailer would be hammering on the White House door.

Apple Computer and innumerable powerful US corporations, which have offshored their production for the American market to China, would see their profits evaporate. Together with their Wall Street allies, these powerful corporations would assault the fool in the White House with more force than the Red Army.

The Chinese trade surplus would cease to flow into US Treasury debt. The offshored-to-India back office operations of banks, credit card companies, and customer service departments of utilities throughout the US would cease to function.

In America, chaos would reign. Such are the rewards to the Empire of globalism.

The White House moron and the neoconservative and Israeli warmongers who urge him on to more wars do not understand that the US is no longer an independent country. America is owned by offshoring corporations and the foreign countries in which the corporations have located their production for US markets.

Sanctions on China and India (and South Korea) mean sanctions on US corporations. Sanctions on Turkey mean sanctions on a NATO ally.

Do China, India, South Korea and Turkey realize that they hold the winning cards?

Do they understand that they can give the bird to the American Empire and bring it down in collapse, or are they brainwashed like Europe and the rest of the world that the powerful Americans cannot be resisted?

Will China and India exercise their power over the US, or will the two countries fudge the issue and adopt a pose that saves face for Washington while they continue to purchase Iranian oil?

The answer to this question is: how much will Washington pay China and India in secret concessions, such as eviction of the US from the South China Sea, for their pretense that China and India acknowledge Washington’s dictatorial powers over the rest of the world?

Without concession to China and India, Washington is likely to be ignored while it watches its power evaporate.

A country that cannot produce industrial and manufactured goods, but can only print debt instruments and money is not a powerful country. It is a washed-up two-bit punk that can continue to strut around until the proverbial boy says: “the Emperor has no clothes”.

Propagandists are Failing to Divide the American People

From the Trenches World Report

Posted on April 13, 2012 by Henry Shivley – OR

The propaganda machine is running in overdrive as the push to cover up the GOP election fraud has become so in-our-face as to be counterproductive to its cause.

Only the most ignorant of the ignorant cannot see the push to implement every form of propaganda developed over the last fifty years for the purpose of dividing we the people.

We are seeing a push for a race war, which is failing.  There is a war on women, which I guess is supposed to indicate men against women.

There is a war on religion, which I guess is supposed to mean whatever they want it to mean from one minute to the next, including, but not limited to, abortion, birth control, Mitt Romney’s Mormanism, Paul Ryan’s Catholicism, and Obama’s Muslimism.

And of course there is the class war, which really makes the whole thing quite interesting, as, in many cases considering all the aforementioned wars, individuals are finding themselves at war with themselves.  Failing, failing, failing.

I guess we are just supposed to forget about the $38 trillion in stolen resources, our lost jobs, our lost homes, our lost bank accounts, the many foreign wars, and the fact that our middle class is continuing to shrink as the poverty level rises.

And most important of all we are supposed to forget that Ron Paul is still bringing in record crowds and that in reality only half of this country has gone to the polls for the GOP primaries and caucuses to date.

We are being treated like children in much the same way as the American Indians were when this country was being stolen from them.

Only there is a difference this time as we are more numerous than the blades of grass upon the prairie and the stars in the sky.

The Indians were pitted against one another to their common demise and the arrogant traitors that are the insurgency we face today think they are going to somehow manage to do the same to us.

Well, this strategy is not going to work on the American people of the American race.

We do not communicate via smoke signals, we have the internet and we know how to use it.

If they strike one of us down, a hundred must step up in his or her place.  When they try to cower us we must lash out and cower them.  We are the many, they are the few.  This country is ours, not theirs.

They will employ mercenaries to fight for bootie, we will fight for our homes and hearths and our progeny yet to come.

They know they cannot defeat us; this is why they are so desperately trying to get us to defeat ourselves.

We must continue to build our numbers behind Ron Paul and let them know that if they disenfranchise us they will be utterly destroyed.

Hell what am I saying?  After what they have done to us, we will destroy them anyway.

God bless the Republic, death to the international corporate mafia, we shall prevail.

Israel Is Expanding Its West Bank Settlements Again And Nobody Has Noticed

West Bank

                               (kudumomo via Flickr)

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is moving to expand Israeli settlements in the West Bank at a time when international attention is focused elsewhere, with President Obama gearing up for reelection and the West targeting Iran’s nuclear program.

Last week, the Netanyahu government took a variety of steps that, taken together, amount to a significant strengthening of Israel‘s hold in the West Bank, the biblically resonant territory occupied in 1967, which Palestinians claim as the heartland for their future state.

For Netanyahu, who heads a right-wing coalition with a strong pro-settler contingent, it was a delicate dance of one small step back and six larger steps forward for settlements.

IN PICTURES: Unsettled: Jewish settlements in the West Bank

On April 4, the prime minister backed the evacuation of a house illegally occupied by settlers in the flashpoint city of Hebron, endorsing his attorney general’s position that there was no legal argument for approving the settler takeover.

That angered some among his hard-line constituency, including Danny Dayan, head of the Yesha Council that represents 300,000 settlers. ‘‘It is intolerable that Jews cannot exercise their property rights simply because they are Jews,” Dayan says.

To assuage this anger, Mr. Netanyahu declared the same day that he instructed the government to authorize three illegal outposts in the West Bank, despite Israel’s having committed itself in the 2003 international peace blueprint, known as the “road map,” to dismantle them.

Hours later, tenders were issued for building a new neighborhood of 800 units in Har Homa, a settlement in annexed East Jerusalem, and for 180 new units in Givat Zeev, north of Jerusalem.

”It is all related, it is all part of the same package,” says Yossi Alpher, former director of the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies at Tel Aviv University. ”He is able to say to his hard-core right wing supporters, ‘I evacuated those people, but look what I’m building. We had to stand up for the rule of law but we’re still building the Land of Israel and here’s the proof.’ It’s quintessential Netanyahu: Speaking to please everyone, while facilitating the spread of settlements.”

Netanyahu’s calculations

Also on April 4, Netanyahu announced his government would seek to preserve the unauthorized Ulpana outpost abutting the Beit El settlement just north of Ramallah despite its being built entirely on private Palestinian property.

Netanyahu also said he was asking the government to begin procedures to legalize three other illegal outposts – Rekhelim, Sansana, and Brukhin, a move that would make them among the first new settlements authorized since the early days of the peace process in 1995 and could pave the way for further legalizations among the 96 outposts in the West Bank.

Netanyahu’s statement was seized upon by residents here as a possible reprieve from a Supreme Court ruling to demolish six buildings housing 150 people in Ulpana by May 1 so the land could be returned to its Palestinian owners.

”I’m glad Netanyahu is thinking about our issue, I was very nervous we would have to move in the middle of the school year,” says Alex Traiman, a documentary filmmaker who lives in Ulpana and is a father of three. ”It doesn’t seem illegitimate to me to legalize the buildings,” he says.

The red-roofed, three-story structures – which in recent months have become a pilgrimage site for right-wing politicians – were built 12 years ago. The government offered generous subsidies for people to move there.

The homes are hooked up to electricity, sewerage, and phone service and have a good access road with neatly painted white parking spaces. Overlooking a hillside with purple bougainvilleas, the outpost has the feel of a suburban street.

Both the outposts and the more established settlements like Har Homa are seen as illegal by the international community for violating the Fourth Geneva Convention, a stance Israel rejects.

In Mr. Alpher’s view, Netanyahu’s calculations are straightforward: pleasing his right-wing core constituency and satisfying his own ideological inclinations on the one hand while avoiding severe international condemnations on the other.

Because Netanyahu likely does not need to take the latter factor into account  until at least after the US election, Mr. Alpher and other analysts argue, a continuation of the heightened settlement activity announced last week is likely during the months ahead.

”Undoubtedly the focus on Iran also helps him to do what he wants in the West Bank, ” Alpher adds.

Akiva Eldar, a columnist for the dovish Haaretz newspaper, sums up Netanyahu’s intention as being ”to build as much as possible while paying lip-service to the two-state solution.”

”He wants to use this time to expand the settlements and to encourage more and more building,’‘ Eldar says.

Israeli officials deny this, saying Netanyahu wants to pursue a two-state compromise but that the Palestinians refuse to come to the bargaining table.

‘All of us will pay a price’ for settlement expansion

Netanyahu said in an interview published in Maariv newspaper Friday that an agreement with the Palestinians is important so that Israel can remain a Jewish state and avert becoming a binational one that includes the large Palestinian population of the West Bank.

But he stressed that such an agreement wouldn’t be able to solve a larger problem of mounting hostility in the region toward Israel resulting from the post-Arab Spring gains by Islamic fundamentalists in Egypt and elsewhere.

In remarks to the Knesset late last year, Netanyahu said explicitly that concessions to the Palestinians were unwise during a period of instability in the region. ”We can’t know who will end up with any piece of territory we give up,” he said.

Netanyahu told Maariv that his vision for settlement involves ”safeguarding the large settlement blocs,” retaining ”areas of religious-national significance to our people,” and keeping areas where Israel has a security interest.

Although this would appear to leave the Palestinians with little for their state, Yigal Palmor, the Israeli foreign ministry spokesman, says Netanyahu is open to discussing the future of settlements with the Palestinians. ”If they really want to do something about settlements, they need to enter negotiations and address it in the framework of negotiations,” Mr. Palmor says.

Israeli settlements: Where, when, and why they’re built

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has made Israel’s freezing of settlement construction a precondition for resuming talks, something Israel rejects.

In the view of Palestinian Authority spokesman Ghassan Khatib, only an active US role can stem Israeli settlement and save the two-state solution. ”It is true that America is preoccupied with elections and Israel is taking advantage of that, but all of us will pay a price for closing an eye to the continued Israeli violations, especially the expansion of settlements,” he says

In Ulpana, resident Didi Dickstein, a father of two, says Netanyahu’s statement of support is important, but that he still fears the demolitions may occur.

A former soldier in army intelligence and a business administration major, he says those living in Ulpana are educators and employees of high-tech companies, not the stereotypical radical youths of some other outposts. ”We are not people who look for confrontations or to take over anything,” he says.

New report documents systematic abuse of Palestinian children in Israeli military detention

    المعلومات من الشرق الأوسط

 By Nora Barrows-Friedman

March 22, 2012

Since 1967, Palestinians from the West Bank have been living under Israeli military law and prosecuted in military courts. The United Nations (UN) estimates that during the last 44 years, around 726,000 Palestinian men, women and children have been prosecuted and detained under these emergency laws. In the past 11 years alone, around 7,500 children, some as young as 12 years, are estimated to have been detained, interrogated, and imprisoned within this system. This averages out at between 500-700 children per year, or nearly two children, each and every day.

A new, important yet disturbing report published on Tuesday by Defence for Children International – Palestine section has found that Israel’s routine arrests, detentions, interrogations, abuses and torture of Palestinian children are in breach of various UN and international laws, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention against Torture, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, all of which have been ratified by Israel.

Based on the testimonies of more than 300 children interviewed between 2008 and 2012, DCI-Palestine’s report states in the summary that “there is a systematic pattern of ill-treatment, and in some cases torture, of children held in the military detention system, with the majority of the abuse occurring during the first 48 hours.” 3 of the 311 children who provided testimonies were arrested while they under 11 years old, but the majority of the children interviewed were detained while they were 16 and 17 years old.

According to the report, 95 percent of the children interviewed stated that their hands had been tied during interrogation, 90 percent had been blindfolded, 75 percent reported physical violence used against them, 33 percent had been strip-searched, and 29 stated they had been shown and/or forced to sign documents — including confessions — written in Hebrew, with no translation or translators available.

12 percent of the children had been put into solitary confinement

DCI-Palestine also reported that majority (60 percent) of Palestinian children testified that they had been arrested by heavily-armed Israeli forces who snatched them from their homes between midnight and 5am, and then taken to an “unknown location for interrogation.”

The report adds:

The arrest and transfer process is often accompanied by verbal abuse and humiliation, threats as well as physical violence. Hours later the children find themselves in an interrogation room, alone, sleep deprived, bruised and scared. Unlike Israeli children living in settlements in the West Bank, Palestinian children are not accompanied by a parent and are generally interrogated without the benefit of legal advice, or being informed of their right to silence.

… Within eight days of their arrest, the children are brought in chains to a military court where, in most cases, they will see a lawyer and their parents for the first time. Although many children maintain their innocence, in the end at least 90 percent will plead guilty, as this is the quickest way out of a system that denies children bail in 87 percent of cases. Within days of their arrest, nearly two-thirds of the children are transferred to prisons inside Israel in violation of Article 76 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits such transfers. The practical consequences of this is that many children receive either limited, or no family visits, due to freedom of movement restrictions and the time it takes to issue a permit to visit the prisons.

… Out of 311 testimonies, no child was accompanied by a lawyer during their interrogation, and only two children (0.6 percent) were accompanied by a parent. This is significant because third-party scrutiny of the methods of interrogation can be an effective measure to limit the use of torture, illtreatment and other coercive techniques during questioning.

DCI-Palestine’s report also includes in-depth testimonies from some of the Palestinian children, interviews with medical and psychological experts, and testimonies from former Israeli soldiers — now with the group Breaking the Silence — who participated in the arrest and interrogation of children.

‘Monolith’ Object on Mars? You Could Call It That

‘Monolith’ Object on Mars? You Could Call It That (Image: NASA HiRISE; Arrow: thesun.co.uk)

Amateur stargazers have discovered an intriguing object jutting out from the surface of Mars. The seemingly perfectly rectangular, upright structure, found in NASA images of the Red Planet, bears a striking resemblance to the monoliths planted on Earth and the moon by aliens in the classic sci-fi film “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

The object in question was first spotted several years ago after being photographed by the HiRISE camera onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, a NASA space probe; every so often, it garners renewed interest on the Internet. But is it unnatural — a beacon erected by aliens for mysterious reasons, and even more mysteriously paralleled in the imaginations of Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, creators of “2001”? Or is this rock the work of nature? [Photo ]

According to Jonathon Hill, a research technician and mission planner at the Mars Space Flight Facility at Arizona State University, who processes many of the images taken during NASA’s Mars missions, the object in question is no more than a roughly rectangular boulder.

The HiRISE camera that photographed it has a resolution of approximately 1 foot (30 centimeters) per pixel — impressive considering the 180-mile (300-kilometer) altitude from which it photographs the Martian surface, but not quite sharp enough to capture the cragginess of a mid-size boulder. “When your resolution is too low to fully resolve an object, it tends to look rectangular because the pixels in the image are squares. Any curve will look like a series of straight lines if you reduce your resolution enough,” Hill told Life’s Little Mysteries.

The location of the boulder at the bottom of a cliff near many other boulders suggests it broke off the cliff and tumbled to its current spot sometime in the distant past, Hill said. Such a perilous location is itself an argument against deliberate placement by aliens: “If I was going to build a monolith somewhere, that’s the last place I would put it!” he said. “The debris falling from the cliff would cover it up pretty quickly, on geologic timescales.” [Vote: Do You Believe in Life on Mars?]

Hill added that the height of the boulder is being exaggerated in the photo by a low sun angle. Photographed when the sun was near the horizon, the boulder casts an especially long shadow.

The ufologists aren’t necessarily wrong in calling it a monolith — the word simply translates from Latin as “one stone.” But this monolith isn’t the masonry of Martians.

Dimensional Travel

From Coast to Coast A.M.

April 11, 2012

In the latter half, (of the show)  hypnotherapist Dr. Bruce Goldberg discussed out-of-body experiences (OBEs), other dimensions, astral travel, and healing techniques.

He described his “superconscious mind tap technique” as a cleansing that raises the quality of a soul’s energy, as well as the notion of “conscious dying,” in which a person faces death without fear, and has awareness of both the physical world, and the nonphysical one they’ve just entered.

Interestingly, he noted that a person can have an IBE (in-the-body-experience), which has all the characteristics of an OBE except they stay within the parameters of the physical body, yet can use their “astral senses” to experience the “fifth dimension.”
Regarding alien abductions, Goldberg suggested that the ETs use “fifth dimension travel techniques,” tearing the fabric of space-time to move through solid walls, and take people back to their craft or base (see illustration).

He also talked about “paragression,” which in contrast to past life regression or progression, takes people to a life in a parallel universe where everything looks similar to here, but events have played out differently.

Regarding an in-person energy healing, the healer’s hands are placed just above the patient’s body– they’re actually working with their astral field or aura, he detailed.

Fountain of Youth #2

From The Unexplainable Store

Today I’d like to continue our ongoing manual on the Fountain of Youth entrainment program we offer. As we covered in our last installment, youth has been long sought by those wanting energy and beauty and perhaps most importantly a longer life.

But youth isn’t as much something outside us as it is something we can find within. But there are a few ways you can maximize the youth unlocking potential of our program. Through the power of consciousness transformation you can change your whole life for the better.

Since age is so subjective this is advantageous to the individual looking for a positive change in their lives, but it also has its own share of challenges. Since it’s your consciousness that helps shape your age, then it’s easier to make changes for the better, but you’ll also have to overcome the perceptions expressed by others.

For example, if you’ve been going through a period where you felt particularly tired it may be interpreted as getting older.

When others say the same, it might make it more difficult to get in the right swing of things. To get started on your transformation, check us out at http://www.store.unexplainable.net/products/fountain-of-youth.php

Last installment we mentioned reviving some of your old healthy or active hobbies. These are things like hiking or sports that you may have done when you were younger. But they don’t necessarily have to be quite as advanced as restarting your old lifestyle.

You may want to start off simple. Instead of taking the elevator, you may want to take the stairs. But it’s not just the activity that helps with transforming your consciousness.

Changing your consciousness can also work through visualizing things you used to. Read a book you read when you were young. Watch an old favorite movie. Visit a place you haven’t been to in years that you associate with your youth.

These things can also help your mind into the mindset of how you thought when you were younger.

It can build upon itself and kickstart your new life. Keep in mind, this exercise is about consciousness. Of course part of consciousness transformation is about building a perception of yourself rather than being overwhelmed by outside forces.

So for example, if someone tries to tell you that you’re older than you feel, be sure to remind yourself that this is not the case. And if you find it necessary you can express to your friends how much younger you’ve been feeling and ask for their support.

As with so many endeavors a person can undertake during their lives, a good support network is important.

When you start revisiting your youth and feeling energy and vitality coursing through your veins once again, you’ll want to let others know not only so they can ask you what your secret is, but also so they’ll come along with you on your journey.

Believe it or not, a group of friends with one person undergoing this treatment can have positive effects on others as well, if the group starts doing more active things.

So do yourself a favor, and visit us at http://www.store.unexplainable.net/products/ fountain-of-youth.php if you haven’t already and begin your journey today!

I hope this installment of our youth entrainment therapy was helpful to you. Remember this is a journey where you have all the power. Next time I’d like to talk about a few of the other steps you can take to help supplement this consciousness transformation.

Have a safe and enlightened journey!

Jim McElwee
