A Message From a US Escapee

The Dollar Vigilante

From The Dollar Vigilante

APRIL 12, 2012

[Editor’s Note: The Following is from TDV’s Brazilian based correspondent, Tekoa da Silva]

In 2006 I was woken up and pulled out of bed at 3:00 a.m. It must have been a Sunday or a Monday morning, I can’t remember. My bedroom door burst open with a loud voice yelling at me to get out of bed.

When I opened my eyes, all I saw was a flashlight beaming in my face. I was taken out of my bedroom, and into my kitchen by a person in black SWAT-looking like gear.

This stranger had a machine gun and was telling me what to do and where to go in my own home.

When I entered my kitchen, I walked into a crowd of easily fifteen police and “ICE” officers hanging out and strutting around my living room and kitchen, and in the living room lay the prize, my father, a small older man in his late fifties at the time, bound, handcuffed, and held by three officers twice his size.

What occurred that night was the planting of a seed of fear into my heart. It was the evolution of a series of events which had begun years earlier.

The trauma of having my home raided by ICE agents, and watching my father being hauled off in the middle of the night set off a psychological countdown which I simply could not ignore.

The survival instincts which I had been instructed to ignore by the “system” for years, had finally kicked in, and told me to get the hell out – which is what I did.

In the late seventies my father immigrated to the United States from Brazil. He was 21 at the time and was looking for a bright future.

I was born in 1983, and a few years after that my father was arrested for having a physical altercation with another person.

Something which used to just be called fisticuffs… a mild dispute that was resolved amongst the parties involved.

Fast forward to 2004, a few years after 9/11, and a bundle of new laws were being passed targeting resident aliens and illegal immigrants. This was at the height of the immigration debates occurring in newspapers and political forums nationwide.

South & Central American Immigrants (whether justified or not) were becoming political punching bags. Many Americans were looking for someone to blame for steadily increasing unemployment levels, and politicians were also looking for someone to blame – in order to take the heat off themselves, the real culprits.

It was during this political climate that a retroactive law was passed, indicating all immigrants/resident aliens who committed crimes of “moral turptitude” were now subject to immigration & deportation hearings.

My father, having been in the US for over 30 years fell into this category. On a routine return trip from visiting family in Brazil, he was sequestered in New York City, and had his US passport taken away from him.

He was told that if he wanted it back, he would need to go to court. So he did, in what became a few years of spending tens of thousands of dollars on attorney’s fees.

His hearings were unsuccessful, and in the middle of an appeal, our house was raided by ICE, and he was thrown in jail. He sat in there for six months before getting deported to Brazil.

My side of the journey was scary, as I was in my early 20s, my father was the only parent involved in my life and here I was marked with the permanent experience of having your house raided in the middle of the night and seeing a family member carried off by the government.

There were just so many life-changing implications involved I didn’t know where to start.

As Alanis Morrisette once said, life isn’t without it’s ironies. The night my house was raided I was wearing a t-shirt from my local police department. For years I participated in citizen police academies, police department community outreach programs, and knew most of the people in the department.

So while I was standing in my kitchen watching my dad get hauled off, I was wearing the t-shirt of the same organization taking part in the work. To top it off, one of the officers hauling my dad off was a former high school chemistry classmate.

We had lots of fun in high school, and here we were, watching a new reality unfold.

This is an important example of how the people you know and have relationships with, may in fact, be forced to become directly involved with your “handling” should you ever find yourself in a similar situation.

I was told at a later date that the local officers had no idea of their assignments for the night, and that ICE simply shows up, provides an address, and “goes to work”.

With what I now know is mostly propaganda and brainwashing that the governmentis good… the police are good, it is amazing to look back on the events that occurred.  Until an experience occurs which forces you to walk back in your memory to find out why or how something happened you don’t see many of the clues.

Then, once you’ve revisited your memory you  may think to yourself, why the hell didn’t I see or notice what was going on? Well this was the sensation I was feeling in the years following my father’s deportation.

With a clearer, opened mind now I remembered he was audited four times in the previous six years. I remembered (thinking it was funny at the time) how society & law enforcement began treating him much differently after 9/11 because he was a person of color (and maybe also because he had long hair and a beard).

After going over the event thousands of times in my mind, I began to feel that the crackdown on illegal immigrants was to a certain extent getting rid of people who served both as political scapegoats, but also in terms of getting rid of “property” from another country.

Handling resident aliens seems to baffle most governments, and it just seemed the easiest way for the U.S. to deal with them, is to turn many of them into criminals and get rid of them. The question remained this.

If they are intent on getting rid of all the “property” in which they do not own what will they end up doing with the “property” which they DO own?

In my experience I feel quite lucky because we were benefited by being one of the first.

When I say this, I mean that I believe a statistical percentage of Americans will undergo the same experience with potentially far more dangerous & traumatic final outcomes. It is rumored now in alternative news sources that new systems of prison camps have been constructed and are being staffed throughout the US.

Looking at the explosive political unrest in Europe, anyone with a brain can surmise this same type of social unrest will occur in the US, quite possibly more intense as the dollar collapses and armed Americans are forced to collide over dwindling supplies of “just in time” food deliveries to the most systematically sensitive food distribution system the planet has ever seen.

Looking at it from thousands of miles away, the idiocy behind centralized food production & distribution is the most insane construct of dominoes man could possibly come up with.

A Homeland “Security” Assault HummerI believe as the US slowly moves from being a social & political war zone to an actual war zone many people will be forcibly required to leave their homes and in many cases this may occur in the middle of the night much like my family experienced.

While many are in disbelief of this possibility, let me remind readers of the recent bill passed by the administration which gives government the legal right to seize any property or asset within the US borders.

This includes giving your luxury home to a senior officer of a local Homeland Security battalion if in fact he desires it (think Schindler’s List).

We’re in low political tide now, and the water is pulling itself back into the ocean, but it will return with a thunderous crash, and in doing so, many entangle your entire body and pull you out to sea.

My advice? Get a DAMN life jacket while you can! Come up with a plan for your family, and get moving. Research a few countries, and go on a 1-3 month research trip.

Talk to the guys at TDV, and ask them about their passport & citizenship options (TDVPassports.com), look to get some of your assets outside of the country (Get Your Gold Out Of Dodge), but for god’s sake, just don’t become one of the people who years from now regretted having stayed on the Titanic.

And on the bright side, by considering another country and learning a new language, you may become a more valuable employment or productive entreprenurial asset.

Navy spending $21 billion on three new destroyers, part of response to China’s military buildup

Despite the United States having record deficits, a black hole of debt and absolutely no money to be spending, the military continues to ignore this reality and funnel huge sums of money into the coffers of the war profiteers.

The new DDG 1000 Zumwalt class destroyer will focus on attacking land-based targets, leveraging stealth technology to allow the vessel to get close to shore before being detected and letting loose the massive advanced arsenal on the warship.

Similar to other military projects like the Blue Devil spy blimp and airborne laser programs, this project went far over the original estimated cost of $3.8 billion all the way up to $7 billion.

If they follow the established pattern, they very well might end up pumping billions into the program just to dump it after a few years.

The Zumwalt class destroyers will likely be outfitted with some of the most advanced, far-out naval technology the public knows about.

Not the least of which is the electromagnetic railgun, which will be able to fire projectiles faster (4,500-5,000 miles per hour) and farther (up to 100 nautical miles, with future incarnations potentially able to reach 220 nautical miles) than any other weapon currently in use.

According to Fox News, the Zumwalt-class destroyers are also going to receive Advanced Gun System (AGS), expected to have a range of close to 60 nautical miles.

One day, we very well may see these vessels outfitted with free-electron lasers, or more colloquially “powerful warship raygun turrets able to blast enemy missiles and aircraft out of the sky from afar,” as The Register put it.

“They were looking to introduce so many new technologies at once, and the cost ballooned,” said defense analyst Jay Korma, who works with the Avascent Group, according to Business Insider. “I don’t think people have changed their minds that it’s a capable ship. It’s just too expensive.”

The ship is currently being built in Maine at Bath Iron Works, which had to build a brand new $40 million building just to have the room required to build the vessel.

The new 106-foot-tall building, owned by General Dynamics, will beused to assemble the enormous hull segments of the 600-foot-long warship.

However, even with its massive size, the futuristic ship will only need half of the crew traditionally required to man a ship due to the highly complex on-board electronics and automation features.

The Zumwalt-class destroyers, which are expected to be operational some time in 2015, seems to be aimed mostly at combating the perceived threat of the Chinese military buildup and the Pentagon’s new focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

Early last month I reported on the increases in Chinese military spending, which was almost certainly a response to the Pentagon’s new strategy as well as the global growth of NATO, especially in the region of the South China Sea.

Indeed, it seems impossible to come to any conclusion other than that the United States has been goading China – and continues to do so – through various means but especially through arming those who are opposing Chinese control of the South China Sea .

“With its stealth, incredibly capable sonar system, strike capability and lower manning requirements — this is our future,” said Admiral Jonathan Greenert, the chief of naval operations, during a visit to Bath Iron Works.

However, previously the vessel was criticized for trying to cram too much new technology into the platform and according to CBS News, some Navy officials pointed out that it is less capable in terms of missile defense compared to current destroyers and might be vulnerable when operating close to shore providing fire support.

Even the “tumblehome” hull, which allows it to pierce through waves, was criticized for being potentially unstable under certain circumstances.

While the latest proposed budget form the Navy puts the cost of the destroyers at $3.8 billion each, Winslow Wheeler, the director of the Straus Military Reform Project at the Center for Defense Information in Washington, points out that if you consider research and development costs it is actually $7 billion apiece.

Originally, the Navy wanted 32 of the massive destroyers, but that was quickly cut down to 24, then seven, and now a mere three due to the absurd costs associated with the vessels.

Despite the ludicrous cost – which we can’t afford since we do not have a single penny to our country’s name – Greenert claims that it fits perfectly into the new Asia-Pacific focus.

While he wouldn’t go into explicit detail about how the ship could actually be used, we do know that the Department of Defense is concerned about the Chinese navy.

This was evidenced last year by the United States nonsensically saying that China must explain their need for a refurbished Soviet aircraft carrier.

The United States is focused not only on the South China Sea but also the perceived threat of China stopping or delaying foreign intervention in a conflict involving Taiwan.

The Navy claims that the Zumwalt’s new technology will give the destroyer the ability to carry on operations and defeat aggression in locations where enemies are attempting to deny access including in the open ocean and close to shore.

The 155mm deck guns on the Zumwalt are designed to strike shore targets with guided munitions in order to open up the way for Marines to swoop in with landing vessels.

According to Eric Wertheim, author of the Naval Institute’s Guide to Combat Fleets of the World, this weapons system could prove more cost effective than cruise missiles in certain contexts.

Keep in mind, this type of scenario sounds very similar to what an operation against Iran might look like using the Pentagon’s so-called “commando mothership,” so I think this could very well be aimed at them as well as the Chinese.

Personally, I find it quite insulting that the Pentagon continues to spend money (which we don’t have), leveraging the American people as collateral against the massive debts.

Unfortunately we are ruled by a government which clearly plans for perpetual war across the globe, something which will undoubtedly cause unimaginable pain and suffering not only in those countriestargeted by the West, but the United States and allied countries as well.

Veterans for Peace Leah Bolger Faces Jail for Challenging the US Government on how it Uses its Tax Dollars

From Global Research

April 12, 2012

In 45 Seconds Leah Bolger Did More to Represent the Views of Americans then the Supercommittee Ever Did:  Now She Faces Jail

On April 12th, Leah Bolger, the president of Veterans for Peace and an occupier at Freedom Plaza, will appear in DC Superior Court to face charges stemming from her interruption of the  Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, also known as the Super Committee. Below is the statement I will submit on her behalf.

20 Year Veteran Faces Jail Time for Civil Disobedience

This statement is submitted in support of Leah Bolger for her action to stop the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, also known as the “super committee,” from reducing government deficit spending by cutting desperately needed social programs primarily for senior citizens and the disabled, rather than taxing the wealthiest 1% of Americans and reducing military spending.

The Joint Select Committee was a congressional aberration with only one precedent, the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy. The Joint Select Committee was made up of senators and members of Congress from both parties and was designed to avoid the normal legislative process, especially public hearings and the ability of Americans to hold their elected representatives accountable for their actions. The Joint Committee was called a super committee because it would put forward cuts in the budget and increased taxes and the full Congress would then vote on the full proposal without any amendments. This process usurped the authority of elected officials to write and revise legislation.

The Joint Committee met almost completely in private without opportunity for public testimony. There were only a few public meetings of the Committee with carefully selected witnesses. News reports indicated that President Obama and the Democrats were negotiating with the Republicans to cut Social Security and Medicare. This was being done even though both those programs are funded by separate tax revenues, the payroll tax, which withholds taxes from the pay checks of all Americans to fund these programs. These programs are a contract with Americans who pay throughout their working lives for these benefits.

Neither of these programs was in deficit spending. Indeed, since 1982 Social Security has maintained a budget surplus. Social Security remains strong with a $2.7 trillion surplus and will be able to pay full benefits for the next 25 years – until 2036. Despite the gloom and doom rhetoric of those who want to cut Social Security to balance the budget, the program continues to run an annual surplus – and is separate from the general fund and the deficit problems the country faces.

Medicare presents greater challenges because of the failure to control health care costs in the United States. Medicare is the victim of this problem not the cause. Spending per beneficiary rose more than 400 percent over the last 30 years but this is much less than inflation-adjusted premiums on private health insurance which rose more than 700 percent. Throughout this time administrative costs for Medicare have been 2 to 3 percent, compared to nearly 18 percent for private insurance. Slight changes in tax structure would be sufficient to fully fund Medicare and Social Security for the foreseeable future. As with Social Security, the challenges in funding Medicare are separate from the general federal deficit.

Both these programs are immensely popular with polls consistently showing that super majorities of Americans – more than 60 percent –supporting them. Polls also show that Americans want to see other cuts, including to military spending, rather than cuts to these desperately needed social programs for which there is contract between government and the American people. For these reasons Congress sought to circumvent the normal open and transparent democratic process, with opportunities for public comment, in order to cut them.

Instead of listening to and representing the views of the American people, the Joint Committee was representing the interests of big money. The twelve Members of the Joint Committee had received $41 million from the financial sector during their time in Congress. In the previous five years they received more than $1 million in contributions from the health care industry and at least $700,000 from weapons makers. The Joint Committee was carefully selected so it would protect the wealthiest Americans, weapons makers and the for-profit health industry rather than the American people. The only path they would consider in reducing the deficit was on the backs of working Americans.

In 45 seconds retired Commander Leah Bolger did more to represent the views of Americans and tell the true facts about the deficit than all of the elected representatives on the Joint Committee. Commander Bolger correctly said that the cause of the deficit was spending on weapons and war – on which the United States spends a trillion dollars annually, as much as the whole world combined; and failure to progressively tax the wealthiest Americans who despite their record-setting wealth pay less than working Americans. Indeed, the 400 hundred wealthiest Americans have wealth equal to more 154 million Americans, but they pay an average tax of 17% while working Americans pay 30%.

Commander Bolger was a member of the Occupation at Freedom Plaza. On Freedom Plaza we held our own Occupied Super Committee hearing which was aired on CSPAN. And, we produced our own report, The 99% Deficit Proposal: How to Create Jobs, Reduce the Wealth Divide and Control Spending. We found that by making reasonable cuts to the military budget – cuts recommended by many former military officials; and taxing the wealthiest at rates that had been common in the 20th Century, the United States could achieve the $1.2 trillion in budget savings that the congressional super committee sought to achieve in 10 years, in merely two years.

Commander Bolger did an incredibly brave and patriotic act of citizenship – during one of the rare public hearings of the Joint Committee she walked to the front of the hearing room, into the well, and told the elected officials the truth: if we taxed the wealthy and cut the military budget there would be no deficit problem. She also told the American public the truth that this aberration of the democratic process was designed to hide from all of us.

Once again, Leah Bolger was an American hero. Her personal story is one that deserves note. She joined the Navy at 22 years old and served until the year 2000. Over two decades she served all over the world, including tours in Iceland, Bermuda, Japan and Tunisia. She served as an anti-submarine warfare specialist and rose to the rank of a Commander in the Navy, equivalent to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army. She did not leave the Navy as an opponent of war, indeed like many in the military she did not think about what she was doing when serving the country; she followed orders and did her job.

In 2005 she attended an exhibit of the American Friends Service Committee called “Eyes Wide Open,” and had a “moment of epiphany.” The exhibit showed a pair of army boots for every soldier that had been killed since 2001. Each boot had tags which gave the name of each soldier and where they were from. Rows and rows of boots lined up. There were posters of Americans and Iraqis who had died in the war. She says she remembers it affecting her “viscerally, the feeling in my stomach — it was a kick in the gut when I saw that. It really, really hit me.”

She took action, became an active citizen and spoke out against war. She joined Veterans for Peace and in 2009 she was elected the national Board of Directors and served as the national vice-president until 2012 when she was reelected to her second term on the board, and became the first female national president of the organization.

When she spoke before the Joint Committee she delivered a message on behalf of the vast majority of Americans – a message the committee was trying hard not to hear, nor to allow others to hear: End the wars and tax the rich to fix the deficit.

Her action helped changed the course of American history. While she was not alone in protesting the Joint Committee – indeed there were protests outside the committee room and dozens of people walked from New York City, Philadelphia and Baltimore to oppose the cuts that were being talked about – she did something no one else did – she went before the elected officials and did something radical in that committee room – she told the truth. In the end, the truth won and the committee backed off of cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

When I speak in praise of Leah Bolger for her actions, I know I am not speaking only for myself as Leah spoke for millions of Americans who were not being heard. I urge you to recognize that this was an act of conscience taken on behalf of the American people at a time when representative government no longer serves us.

EPA Collusion in Monsanto Coverup

From BlackListed News

Source: OrganicConsumers.org

2,4-D and the dioxin pollution it creates are too dangerous to allow, period, but in the hands of bad actors like Monsanto and Dow Chemical the dangers increase exponentially. What’s the Environmental Protection Agency doing? Helping coverup the chemical companies’ crimes!

In February, Monsanto agreed to pay up to $93 million in a class-action lawsuit brought by the residents of Nitro, West Virginia, for dioxin exposure from accidents and pollution at an herbicide plant that operated in their town from 1929 to 2004.

That may seem like justice, but it is actually the result of Monsanto’s extraordinary efforts to hide the truth, evade criminal prosecution and avoid legal responsibility.

A brief criminal fraud investigation conducted (and quickly aborted) by the EPA revealed that Monsanto used a disaster at their Nitro, WV, plant to manufacture “evidence” that dioxin exposure produced a skin condition called chloracne, but was not responsible for neurological health effects or cancers such as Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

These conclusions were repeatedly utilized by EPA and the Veterans Administration to deny help to citizens exposed to dioxin, if these persons did not exhibit chloracne.

The EPA knew the truth about Monsanto’s dioxin crimes, but it decided to hide it. Why? It would have affected us all. EPA’s brief criminal investigation of Monsanto included evidence that Monsanto knowingly contaminated Lysol with dioxin, even as the product was being marketed for cleaning babies’ toys.

Here are the details of this jaw-dropping and heart-breaking case of corporate criminality and EPA collusion.

According to Natural News:

  • In the town of Nitro, West Virginia, Monsanto operated a chemical plant from 1929 to 1995, making an herbicide that had dioxin as a by-product.

The name dioxin refers to a group of highly toxic chemicals that have been linked to heart and liver disease, human reproductive disorders, and developmental problems.

Dioxin persists in the environment and accumulates in the body, even in small amounts. In 2001, the U.S. government listed dioxin as a “known human carcinogen”.

  • In 1949, at the Nitro plant, a pressure valve blew on a container of this herbicide, producing a plume of vapor and white smoke that drifted out over the town. Residue coated the interior of buildings and those inside them with a fine black powder.

Within days, workers experienced skin eruptions, and many were diagnosed with chloracne, a long lasting and disfiguring condition. Others felt intense pains in their chest, legs and trunk.

A medical report from the time said the explosion “caused a systemic intoxication in the workers involving most major organ systems.” Doctors detected a strong odor coming from the patients they described as men “excreting a foreign chemical through their skins”.

  • Monsanto downplayed the incident, saying that the contaminant was “fairly slow acting” and only an irritant to the skin.

  • Meanwhile, the Nitro plant continued to produce herbicides, In the 1960’s it manufactured Agent Orange, the powerful herbicide used by the U.S. military to defoliate jungles during the Vietnam War, and which became the focus of lawsuits by veterans contending they had been harmed by exposure to the chemical. Agent Orange also created dioxin as a by-product.

  • At the Nitro plant, dioxin waste went into landfills, storm drains, streams, sewers, into bags with the herbicide, and then the waste was burned out into the air. Dioxin from the plant can still be found in nearby streams, rivers, and fish.

From NativeInterface:

According to Source Watch, in 1990, Cate Jenkins, a PhD chemist at EPA, became convinced that Monsanto had deliberately manipulated studies of worker victims of the Nitro disaster showing that dioxin was a human carcinogen.

Dr. Jenkins wrote a memorandum entitled “Newly Revealed Fraud by Monsanto in an Epidemiological Study Used by EPA to Assess Human Health Effects from Dioxins.” Read the memo at PureFood.org.

According to her memo:

  • Dr. Raymond Suskind at the University of Cincinnati was hired by Monsanto to study the workers at Monsanto’s Nitro, West Virginia plant.

Dr. Suskind stated in published studies in question that chloracne, a skin condition was the prime indicator of high human dioxin exposures, and no other health effects would be observed in the absence of this condition.

Unpublished studies by Suskind, however, indicate the fallacy of this statement. No workers except those having chloracne were ever examined by Suskind or included in his study. I

n other words, if no workers without chloracne were ever examined for other health effects, there is no basis for asserting that chloracne was “the hallmark of dioxin intoxication.”

  • These conclusions have been repeatedly utilized by EPA, the Veterans Administration, etc., to deny any causation by dioxin of health effects of exposed citizens, if these persons did not exhibit chloracne.

  • The results of Dr. Suskind’s studies also were diluted by the fact that the exposed group contained not only individuals having chloracne (a genuine, but not the only effect of dioxin exposure), but also all workers having any type of skin condition such as chemical rash.

The workers could have had no or negligible dioxin exposures, but they were included in the study as part of the heavily exposed group. This fact was revealed only by the careful reading of the published Suskind study.

  • Further, Dr. Suskind utilized statistics on the skin conditions of workers compiled by a Monsanto clerical worker, without any independent verification.

  • Dr. Suskind also covered-up the documented neurological damage from dioxin exposures. At Workers Compensation hearings, Suskind denied that the workers experienced any neurological health effects.

In the Kemner, et al. v. Monsanto proceedings, however, it was revealed that Suskind had in his possession at the time examinations of the workers by Monsanto’s physician, Dr. Nestman, documenting neurological health effects.

  • In his later published study, Dr. Suskind denied the continuing documented neurological health effects suffered by the workers, falsely stating that symptoms “had cleared.”

  • All of the Monsanto dioxin studies also suffer another fatal flaw. The purported “dioxin unexposed” control group was selected from other workers at the same Monsanto plant.

An earlier court settlement revealed not only that these supposedly unexposed workers were exposed to dioxins, but also to other carcinogens.

One of these carcinogens, para-amino biphenyl, was known by Monsanto to be a human carcinogen and it was also known that workers were heavily exposed.

  • Another Monsanto study involved independent medical examinations of surviving employees by Monsanto physicians.

Several hundred former Monsanto employees were too ill to travel to participate in the study.

Monsanto refused to use the attending physicians reports of the illness as part of their study, saying that it would introduce inconsistencies.

Thus, any critically ill dioxin-exposed workers with cancers such as Non-Hodgkins lymphoma (associated with dioxin exposures), were conveniently excluded from the Monsanto study.

  • There are numerous other flaws in the Monsanto health studies. Each of these misrepresentations and falsifications always served to negate any conclusions of adverse health effects from dioxins.

Within days of learning that the Office of Enforcement had initiated a criminal investigation of Monsanto based on Jenkins’ allegations, her job duties were withdrawn without warning.

She was not given any assignments from August 30, 1990 until she was reassigned on April 8, 1992 to a job which was primarily administrative or clerical.

According to a 1994 report on “EPA’s Phony Investigation of Monsanto,” by William Sanjour, Policy Analyst, US Environmental Protection Agency, published in Rachel’s Hazardous Waste News:

  • Dr. Jenkins filed a complaint with the Department of Labor claiming that she was being harassed for carrying out perfectly legal activities. The Labor Department investigated and found in Jenkins favor.

The EPA appealed three times all the way up to the Secretary of Labor but each time the Department came down in favor of Jenkins finding that “None of the rationales [explaining her transfer] given by EPA … appear valid”.

  • In August of 1992, EPA quietly closed the criminal investigation without ever determining or even attempting to determine if the Monsanto studies were valid or invalid, let alone fraudulent. … There was no public announcement that the investigation was closed. Dr. Jenkins didn’t learn about it until fifteen months later. Yet Monsanto knew within a few days of EPA’s closing the case.

Why did Monsanto and the EPA go to such great lengths to hide the truth? It would have affected us all. EPA’s brief criminal investigation of Monsanto included evidence that Monsanto knowingly contaminated Lysol with dioxin, even as the product was being marketed for cleaning babies’ toys.

Dr. Jenkin’s memo also contained evidence that Lysol, a product made from Monsanto’s Santophen, was contaminated with dioxin with Monsanto’s knowledge. The manufacturer of Lysol was not told about the dioxin by Monsanto for fear of losing his business. Other companies using Santophen, who specifically asked about the presence of dioxin, were lied to by Monsanto.

This is just one example of why we can’t trust the EPA to stop Monsanto and Dow Chemical from poisoning us with dioxin.

TAKE ACTION: Call EPA’s Fail! Tell the EPA You Won’t Accept a Decision on 2,4-D Based on Dow Chemical’s Biased Studies!

TAKE ACTION: Tell USDA to Stop Agent Orange Corn!

Top Social Media Websites Caught Censoring Controversial Content

Censorship By Top Social Media Websites

[Update: Another moderator has confirmed to me that davidreiss666 says that all of Washington’s Blog submissions should be banned.]

Facebook pays low-wage foreign workers to delete certain content based upon a censorship list. For example, Facebook deletes accounts created by Palestinian resistance groups.

Digg was caught censoring stories which were controversial or too critical of the government. See this and this.

Now, even social media site Reddit – which helped launch the anti-Sopa Internet blackout and publicize GoDaddy’s slimy Sopa support – is doing the same thing.

Social Media Giants Set Up “Free Speech Zones” To Censor Dissent

Posted on March 1, 2012 by WashingtonsBlog

Social Media Taking a Page Out of George W. Bush’s Playbook on “Free Speech Zones”

Preface:  Reddit is the 119th most popular website worldwide on the Internet, which is more popular than Digg.  Because news stories are submitted and voted up social media style, it used to be one of the best sources on the web for alternative news.

I am personally one of the top 100 or so posters to Reddit. Specifically, I have submitted many stories written by other authors on other websites, and have more than 150,000 “karma” points.

As such, I am saddened to see Reddit go the way of Digg and other sites which have been ruined by censorship.

The Bush administration gutted free speech rights by limiting protesters to “free speech zones” which were often miles away from the meetings or conventions being protested, and well away from the media spotlight.

As just one example, posts from this website are being censored by Reddit. Specifically, a friend of this site who has submitted stories to Reddit has received the following messages of rejection from a Reddit moderator named davidreiss666:

from davidreiss666 via /r/worldnews/

WashingtonBlog is not something we consider a good source for r/Worldnews.

from davidreiss666 via /r/worldnews/

Please submit that story from an alternate domain. Thank you.

And another moderator named Maxion:

from Maxion via /r/worldnews/

I am sorry but this submission is not appropriate for this subreddit.

There are certainly also more open-minded moderators at Reddit. But a couple of censors can squash discussion on entire topics.

Why Are They Censoring?

Reddit censorship is constantly a hot topic on Reddit, in fact the top stories right now in /r/conspiracy are about reddit censorship.

In fact there was massive infighting about Occupy Wall Street forum being censored.

Update: /r/occupywallstreet allegedly taken over by anti-OWS mods, though at least they’re liberal with the banhammer? Subscribers protest.(self.SubredditDrama)

submitted 1 month ago by Epistaxis

It begins: “Look who just became moderators for OWS”. Accuses new mods of being “Pro-Zionist, anti-Liberty, pro-war, stooges”. They promptly ban the poster from their subreddit. It happens that the post was in /r/conspiracy and the accused also mod /r/conspiratard. It is also pointed out that they seem not to be fans of OWS.

Update: All the users in question have stopped being mods of/r/occupywallstreet. No word yet on whether their bans are reversed. Is popcorn time over?

This thread in the (abortive?) new alternative subreddit shows the removed mods explaining their actions:

It took 3 of us 2 hours to clean up your mess. We fixed the site for you and we’re gone. All is right in the world. Job well done. No need to thank us.

The moderators were clearly not up to the challenge of properly moderating that subreddit. It’s too bad they caved into the demands of the very people were were enlisted to save them from.

You give these assholes an inch and they’ll take a yard. What were they thinking? LOL I guess it’s not our problem.

Well you and the nolibswatch idiots came along begging to be banned. Other than you idiots I probably did maybe a dozen, mostly people who were shadowbanned but still submitting and clogging the spam filter. There were others who would just post shit even more vile than what you post who I saw through the reported comments who were banned.

We’ve been thanked for doing a wonderful job cleaning up the place.

And it is not just the alternative media sites that are being censored.

To the contrary, there is a theme with the kind of stories that get deleted – they are mostly critical or embarrassing to the U.S. government with a smaller number of posts being deleted that don’t support other political agendas.

This is all evidenced by viewing the subreddit  /r/ModsAreKilling Reddit where some clever fellow set up a bot to monitor every story being deleted from Reddit.

Check the stories out yourself and you can see the clear campaign of pro-government political censorship.

For example:

/r/politics [removed] This should be front page: Obama’s role in keeping journalist imprisoned for exposing US role in fatal bombing of Yemeni civilians, including 14 women and 21 children (salon.com)/r/worldnews [removed]

“What do you mean when you say you are struggling against the occupation?” I asked one Gazan. “After all Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005?”– “We mean the occupation of Jerusalem, and Jaffa and Haifa and all the other places that belong to us,” he said without hesitation. (bbc.co.uk)

In any case, Reddit will soon go the way of Digg and other failed social networking sites.

I await the arrival of a new site to replace Reddit that encourages the discourse that made Reddit what is today.

Clearly the owners haven’t learned the lesson of other social bookmarking sites that attempted to engage in political censorship.

By now the widespread reports of political censorship on Reddit makes it pretty clear that Reddit has been infiltrated by government gatekeepers.

As the Guardian reported the feds are indeed manipulating the social media.
